Time Base/Hours/Units per Week: Full-time
Position Description: The Assistant Director, University Access, plans and coordinates the administration and implementation of programs, special projects, training, and marketing components for prospective students, their families, groups, and other constituents in order to highlight CSULB’s academic excellence, and to showcase the university. Leads the coordination of campus based outreach, yield and enrollment management services including guest relations and campus tours. Develops, maintains, and assesses data and technology systems or needs for recruitment, yield, electronic communication, social media, special events, and prospective students.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proven ability to communicate college admission requirements and application procedures, academic offerings, financial aid, student life, and educational awareness/motivation services to prospective students, parents, counselors, and other constituents as needed. Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments. Proven ability to coordinate and implement special events, programs, and activities. presentations to prospective students and other audiences. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals or groups and in a multicultural environment. Demonstrated skill in assisting and speaking with persons of various ages, socio-economic, cultural and/or education backgrounds. General knowledge of CSU/CSULB admissions requirements and procedures, academic offerings, and student support services highly preferred. Proven ability to learn, interpret, apply, and develop a wide variety of CSU/university policies and procedures relating to high-level office administration standards, policies, and issues. Ability to research and interpret CSU and campus policy, as required. Ability to prepare/oversee various types of publications, e.g., print, web, e-mail, and networking. Ability to develop and manage a budget.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university’s commitment to a “vision of excellence.”
Education and Experience: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with upper division or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in outreach programs and marketing/communications for educational purposes preferred.
