JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director is responsible for customer relations, student engagement and behavior management, licensing relations and administrative tasks. Effectively develops teachers by creating a positive working environment where the children learn through play. Fosters positive relationships with families and community.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
·Create excellent relationships with families through exceptional written and verbal communication and events
·Manage daily operations including student behavior management, teacher development, curriculum and center maintenance
·Tracking student to teacher ratios
·Validating student and teacher files
·Liaison between the center and state licensing
·Focus on Accreditation and Maryland Excels
·Properly attend to incidents and ensure that the documentation of such are accurate
·Take ownership of weekly orders for school supplies and curriculum
·Ensure that children and families are transitioned to their next room properly
·Create an excellent community outreach
·Assist teachers in developing plans to improve classroom development
·Facilitate and conduct monthly team meetings
·Facilitate and conduct at least two professional development days
·Remain visible and accessible to parents
·Solicit feedback regularly from teachers, staff and parents to make any necessary improvements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· 90 hours in Preschool Child Development and Curriculum Planning
·40-45 hours administrative training with 9 hours of training on communicating with staff, parents and the general public
·3 hours of childcare regulation training provided by OCC
·45 hours of Infant and Toddler Training
·45 hours of training each on Child Development, birth through school age, and Curriculum for School Age Care
·BA or BS Degree in Education or a related education field (preferred)
·A minimum of three years’ experience as an assistant director preferred
·Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
·Team Leader and Team Builder
·Commitment to Professional Development
