Inscripta is developing the world’s first scalable platform for benchtop Digital Genome Engineering. The company’s advanced CRISPR-based platform, consisting of an instrument, reagents, and software, will offer a fully automated workflow that enables multiplexed, trackable editing of cells at an unprecedented scale. Inscripta’s goal is to empower scientists whose gene editing research is stifled by current technical and licensing limitations. By providing this unique platform and engaging in collaborative business practices, such as making its MAD7 CRISPR nuclease free for research purposes, the company enables scientists to realize a new era of biological discovery. Due to rapid growth Inscripta has an opening for a Senior Director, FP&A position, which can be located in either our Pleasanton or San Diego, CA offices.
We are looking for Senior Director, FP&A to help build our company and our finance team. This role requires a diverse set of both financial and leadership capabilities necessary to engage our organization in defining and executing on aggressive growth initiatives. They will build and evolve financial planning capabilities while actively partnering with our team on programs that drive shareholder value and protect our assets.
Responsibilities:
- Active member of our finance team ready to jump in and help support all aspects of finance including accounting, shared service, and financial planning; this is truly a start-up role and will be expected to contribute in all areas of our financial operations
- Deep understanding of our business, processes, and systems and how to effectively build and evolve them to support our growth
- Oversight of strategic, operation and transactional financial planning activities including:
- Plan – define and drive planning cycles; support business in development of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts
- Monitor – track financial progress towards identified milestones and goals; collaborate with managers to identify and implement course changes ensuring successful achievement of objectives
- Analyze – Deep understanding of fundamental business drivers and trends; provide insights to performance metrics and critical decision-making situations
- Report – Periodic reporting to the Board, executive team, and managers of results; variance tracking and review with budget holders
- Drive product costing roadmap implementing margin enhancement and inventory control programs alongside the operations team
- Provide financial support to R&D through participation on core teams and Project Approval Committees
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to build in-depth revenue models founded on a deep understanding of the dynamics of our markets, customers, and products.
- This role will require travel to both the San Diego and Pleasanton sites, as well as regular monthly travel to our corporate offices in Boulder, CO. .
Requirements:
We seek an individual with a successful track record who must be comfortable with a start-up environment. The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree with10+ years of operational financial experience, including exposure to corporate, manufacturing, research and development, and commercial operations. Experience in life sciences and international operations will be beneficial. Master’s degree a plus.
- Innate curiosity to deeply understand Inscripta’s mission and roadmap; a general passion for the life science space and for providing financial support for those designing and selling our products
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a highly innovative, fast-paced start up environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills applicable to leading projects, presenting to executive teams, and supporting a variety of project teams and initiatives
- Proficient in computer software skills with expertise in Office, ERP systems, and SalesForce.Com
- Strong work ethic, leads by example, relentless problem solver, committed to the success of our company and our team
- The ability and willingness to travel between the San Diego and Pleasanton offices when needed as well as regular monthly travel to our corporate offices in Boulder, CO.
