Rockbridge County Seeks Solid Waste and Recycling Manager

Rockbridge County is searching for an experienced manager to join our team. The Solid Waste and Recycling Manager position is responsible for overseeing all solid waste and recycling collections, managing staffed and unstaffed collection centers, initiating public relations efforts, preparing budgets, capital improvement plans, and grants, and collaborating with Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) . Successful candidates must have the ability to support members of our solid waste / recycling team, perform complex and technical administrative work, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, and provide excellent customer service. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Virginia Driver’s License, and 3 years of customer service and/or management experience. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s or Technical Degree, previous experience in public relations and/or project management. Experience with solid waste/recycling is preferred but not required.

Starting Salary up to $46,225 commensurate with experience.
