The Software Development Manager manages all activities and tasks relating to software development. This role will ensure that procedures are in place that maintain system and data availability, integrity, and security. Further, this role will establish and promote a strong, positive relationship with business partners and IT leadership to successfully deliver technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Select, train, motivate and develop on-site and remote team members to achieve individual, team and company goals.
  • Hold team accountable for quality work and meeting deadlines; assign and prioritize work as needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure development outputs meet project requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Management to align development tasks with project deliverables.
  • Partner with Data Engineering team to create and maintain data storage for accurate, reliable, and reportable data, in addition to sprint planning.
  • Participate in systems architecture discussions, recommending best practices for architecting developed systems in accordance with approved policies and standards
  • Maintain operability of developed systems by ensuring that development standards are defined, implemented, and followed.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to maintain operability of applications, resolve bugs, and implement approved new functionality.
  • Champion the reliable delivery of software through continuous improvement of the software development practice.
  • Ensure testing and quality assurance of features before releasing.
  • Fulfill customer requests while maintaining corporate process, strategy, and standards.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ technical experience in software development.
  • Excellent leadership skills with 3+ years’ experience leading agile teams and remote employees.
  • Experience in leading a distributed workforce strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in agile development processes and the planning and execution of sprints.
  • Ability to read and write code in several languages (C#, JavaScript preferred).
  • Experience with work management system to track and report on progress (ex: Jira), preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interact with third-party APIs.
  • Excellent motivational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, project management and time management skills.
  • Proven understanding of secure coding practices.
  • Certifications desired: GWEB, GSSP-NET/JAVA, or GWAPT.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapid and ongoing changes in technology.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work after hours, per business needs.
  • Able to travel to various office locations, domestic and international.
