Manager R&D Test Lab
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Salary Range: $116K to $150K Annually, Plus Bonus Eligibility

Effectively manage the Club R&D test lab at the California Loker facility including supervision of test technicians. Testing areas include: club evaluation and verification with a swing robot, head characteristics measurement and durability, shaft characteristics measurement and durability, general club research test and measurement initiatives. Test equipment includes: swing robot, ball air cannons, tensile test machines, shaft fatigue testers, numerous physical measurement machines and data collection devices for golf clubs and components. Individual will have demonstrated computer skills, including strong analytical capabilities. Capable of operating test equipment and provide operator training. Must facilitate compliance with OSHA and Titleist Safety regulations, and will, as necessary, initiate equipment or site development which is compliant with applicable regulations for safety.
Duties include but are not limited to;
- Communicate with the product development and research teams to establish test priorities. Schedule test execution, supervise test technicians, and ensure successful test completion. Review test results and conduct statistical analyses as necessary. Ensure data collected is valid, properly stored and conveniently accessed by R&D staff through a central database. Manage the use of and access to the database.
- Collaborate and communicate with product development and research teams to set test standards and procedures. Facilitate development of new tests, standards and procedures as necessary. Clearly define test objectives and ensure resulting data meets test goals. Manage the design and development of any test fixtures required.
- Provide technical analysis of test procedures and durability standards. Recommend changes to procedures to maximize obtainable usable information or durability acceptance levels to optimize component design freedom while maintaining low field returns.
- Manage the archive for Acushnet and competitive clubs. Supervise purchase and archiving of competitive clubs and components as well as measurement of their characteristics.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
- Propose test process improvements and any required capital expenditures. Manage approved projects to successful implementation.
Position Requires:
- BS degree required. Engineering or scientific discipline preferred.
- 7 yearsâ experience in a technical discipline involving product/component testing and precision measurement is required. Previous experience managing teams of technicians with precision mechanical measurement and testing responsibilities is required. Advanced skill set in MS Office. Experience in golf club or component testing, manufacturing or design is a plus.
