Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: Full-Time Exempt (40+ per week) / Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required

Position Summary:
The Program Director is a key management leader who oversees the development, implementation and strategic growth of programming for the Midstate Athletic Community Center, located in Cicero, New York. The Program Director will possess the right mix of leadership and management skills, coupled with a facility and patron-first mindsight.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of program development, operations, management and daily execution.
  • Generate consistent facility membership growth year-round and manage membership tracking software platforms.
  • Develop innovative revenue generating concepts to attract new business and increase foot-traffic.
  • Prospect and develop positive relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, donors and community groups.
  • Develop and execute fundraising events and annual campaigns.
  • Develop and coordinate opportunities for volunteers to assist with program management.
  • Oversight and management of all events, recreation and fitness activities.
  • Ensure that all rental groups using space within the facility are under signed contract.
  • Develop and distribute employee work schedules and maintain adequate staffing levels based upon program/facility needs.
  • Track and manage the department budget and employee timesheets to ensure that payroll stays within budget.
  • Lead regular staff meetings to facilitate ongoing communication.
  • Evaluate staff through quarterly evaluations and provide regular guidance and direction.
  • Maintain detailed records and assist with hiring, training and development, and human resource processes.
  • Manage the MACC website and social media platforms – Develop and implement regular marketing campaigns.
  • Create a monthly e-newsletter for staff, patrons, corporate partners and donors, and distribute accordingly.
  • Act as the point of contact with local emergency services, and manage emergency action plans.
  • Ensure the safety and proper supervision of staff and patrons at all times.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the Executive Director and assign appropriate support staff immediately.
  • Prepare and submit weekly status reports for all aspects of programming to the Executive Director.
  • Interact with and assist patrons in a positive and professional manner at all times (general customer service).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Sports Administration, Recreation Management, Fitness Development, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of management experience, preferably in a sports, fitness, or recreation sector.
  • Comprehensive management, organization, administration, and personnel supervision abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Basic knowledge of PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Positive, approachable and professional, with a passion for recreation, events and community relations.
