Job Description
The Director of Network Services and Engineering is responsible for managing all aspects of Jack Henryâs vast Network. This includes the day to day operational and engineering support of existing infrastructure, the deployment of networks to support new applications and projects, and capacity planning. The person in this role will collaborate with the other IT departments (Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure Services, Information Security, Development and Project Management) around network design for new systems and new technologies to support the high level of availability and security required to operate the business. In addition, this leader is responsible for all connectivity to Jack Henry clients. The Director will direct network engineering managers and staff on the strategy, management and support of all data centers, and cloud platforms as we transition to a cloud hybrid model.
This position can be worked out of the following Jack Henry offices; Allen, TX, Springfield, MO, Lenexa, KS or be 100% REMOTE from any US location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelorâs degree
- Must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in the networking field in areas such as: Network Engineer/ Administrator /VOIP / Cloud /Software define networking (SDN).
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of combination experience in both staff and project management as a Manager or Supervisor managing a large-scale corporate network infrastructure.
- Must have experience in each of the following: Data Center / Hosting / Distributed network environment.
- Must have experience with network capacity planning.
- Must have experience with multi provider leveling service (MPLS) / quality of service (QoS) / WAN Traffic Optimization.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% to attend onsite customer meetings and team meetings that may be in a different office location.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior or current CCNA and CCNP certification.
- Experience managing the modernization of aging network architecture and ensure build out of new systems will scale through massive transformation and integrations.
- Experience in developing action plans with work estimates as part of IT projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Through subordinate managers or employees, oversees:
- Strategic planning, design and implementation of client, enterprise and internet connectivity solutions, including but not limited to, managed VPN, third party integration, managed circuit provisioning, LAN/WAN/VLAN, core routing and switching, firewall management, BPG management, redundant connectivity, etc.
- Network architecture design. Conducts network needs assessments, product research and existing environment reviews and analysis. Responsible for connectivity research and development including application development connectivity profiling, connectivity trends, etc.
- Information security activities such as firewalls.
- Onsite network installations for customers.
- Data center design such as cabling design, rack layout and power management.
- Installation and management of connectivity solutions such as cabling and closet design.
- Performance monitoring and tuning of connectivity solutions.
- Lifecycle management of connectivity products and platforms.
- Communications support to direct customers, 3rd parties and employees.
- Collaboration with outside vendors on new product offerings, pricing, support and availability of networking hardware and software.
