Head of Concepting – Conveyor Experience Required

Summary:

In this role, you will support sales staff in the design process with the objective of procuring new business. This support is provided by performing distribution center facility design, technical evaluation, systems design and estimating functions. The Design Consultant operates closely with Sales and Estimating and is responsible for initial evaluation of potential projects, assistance in qualifying the probability of material handling sales for clients, development of proposals to design material handling systems within distribution centers as well as all other areas of the facility.

Reports to: Vice President of Project Delivery

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in fields related to material handling system design, distribution center process improvement, material handling system high-level capital and labor estimating
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Access a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Manage consulting engagements to include: Supplying statistical analysis, Conceptual material handling system design, Space calculations for all areas of a distribution center, Develop Return on Investment for proposed systems,Develop labor estimates, Develop high level material handling capital estimates, Provide final presentation documents to include all conclusions of the engagement

Responsibilities:

This position is focused on procurement of new material handling equipment business. Responsibilities include:

• Making sales calls with sales team members to new potential clients and when a sales member needs consulting support for a client
• Participating in the conceptual process for client solutions at initial stages and throughout evolution
• Maintaining a complete understanding of proposed technical solutions developed with the Sales and Estimating departments
• Engaging with sales to develop proposed material design solutions for customers
• Develop unit throughput rates within distribution centers from client activity data; such as units or cartons picked per day, pallets moved per day, etc. for the design process
• Working knowledge and ability to apply equipment rates and specifications to solutions.
• Develop and write client consulting proposals as requested for: Process improvement studies, Entire distribution facility design, including present and future space requirements, Return on Investment calculations to include; estimated labor, space and capital requirements.
