Job summary

The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Global Compensation Program Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will report to the Director of Global Compensation Programs and Consulting. You will focus on the competitiveness of our compensation programs including, but not limited to, our compensation benchmarking strategy and its alignment with the retention of talent, company goals and our culture, and the assessment and creation of existing and new job and salary structures. As a Compensation Program Manager, you will collaborate with a fun and customer-focused team to create innovative solutions that will have a direct impact on Red Hat’s ability to attract and retain top talent in the industry. You’ll need to have an established record designing compensation programs and developing compensation strategy. You’ll also need to be creative and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Lead compensation projects including the design, communication, and implementation of new plans and programs and drive change on a global scale to contribute to the refinement of our compensation programs
  • Provide thought leadership on our benchmarking methodology and tools including ongoing reviews of our market benchmark surveys
  • Analyze our benchmarking reporting capabilities and manage the relationship with our base pay market analysis tool vendor
  • Review market and industry data to recommend modifications or changes to current salary structure and develop short and long-term road map to enhance our flexibility
  • Manage our job structure and job code list through regular reviews to ensure market matches are accurate
  • Evaluate current job structure and make recommendations to provide flexibility as the business grows and scales our processes and organizations
  • Stay up-to-date on compensation market trends to ensure our programs are competitive while aligning to company strategy
  • Manage Red Hat’s cash plan program and partner closely with our equity compensation leader to provide recommendations for program enhancements that align with our future equity strategy

Required skills

  • 8+ years total relevant experience with increasing responsibilities and accountabilities; experience in a fast-paced, growing technology company is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience supporting and developing global compensation programs
  • Solid interpersonal communications effectiveness including verbal, written, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to present ideas at the senior level and gain executive buy-in and alignment around key priorities
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and on your own in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation theory, principles, and practices
  • Solid project management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification is a plus
