The Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center (ICASC), located in Iowa City, Iowa, is a multi-specialty, state of the art surgical facility providing quality outpatient surgical services. The center, established in 2008, currently performs approximately 7,000 surgical procedures per year.

We are seeking a dynamic, proven leader to carry out the responsibilities listed in this job summary:

The Executive Director of the ASC is responsible for providing operational leadership for the staff in all areas of the center and assures the provision of convenient, cost-effective, and quality surgical care. The Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the facility working in collaboration with the Board of Managers to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. He/she plans, directs, monitors, coordinates, and evaluates the day-to-day operations for the center. He/she shall work in collaboration with the leadership team to implement agreed upon strategic, clinical, and operational objectives; ensuring outstanding customer service and safety while maintaining maximum efficiency. The Executive Director holds direct accountability for the following functions: clinical, business, and financial policies and operations; human resources; contracted services; infection control; quality; risk/safety management; compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body requirements; expense management; inventory management; customer service; HIPPA compliance; marketing; and public relations.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare or Business related field preferred.

Required:

  • The ability to work concurrently on multiple projects with varying priorities, works well under pressure and within deadlines; gives great attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills, including communication skills that promote interpersonal relations, customer service, and teamwork
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft® applications (eg, Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®)

About ICASC…

We employ a professional staff and work with highly skilled physicians. Our nurses, surgeons and anesthesiologists are experienced in outpatient surgery. Our staff is comprised primarily of RNs averaging 15 years of experience. The Iowa City ASC is regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
