Responsibilities:
The Director, Strategy and Planning- Digital Health is responsible for leading the three key functions of the department with a lens on the role of advanced and emerging technologies as an enabler of ACFC’s strategic objectives: (1) Corporate Strategy, (2) Annual Business Plan, and (3) Market Insights and Competitive Intelligence. The Director will lead a corporate strategy and planning team with expertise in advanced technology strategic planning, business planning, analytics, competitive analysis, market research, financial analysis and modeling, M&A evaluation and partnership development. The Director in this role will support the VP of Strategy and Planning, and the SVP of Strategy and Innovation, as they engage with the most senior level leaders of the organization, including Executive Committee members and Market Presidents. This role will also have a close working relationship with his/her colleagues in the IT division (especially the CDO, the IT Innovation lab team and the Director of Strategy and Innovation for Shared Services management). responsible for leading the three key functions of the department: (1) Corporate Strategy, (2) Annual Business Plan, and (3) Market Insights and Competitive Intelligence. The Director will lead a corporate strategy and planning team with expertise in strategic planning, business planning, analytics, competitive analysis, market research, financial analysis and modeling, and M&A evaluation. The Director will be engaged with the most senior level leaders of the organization, including Executive Committee members and Market Presidents. Along with Strategy and Planning leadership, the Director will develop a regular cadence of reports to keep Executive Committee members informed on competitor intelligence and moves, environmental trends impacting MLR and other areas of our business, and strategic opportunities.
Corporate Strategy
- Drive the development of a five year corporate strategy, engaging Executive Committee members and other senior leaders.
- Facilitate meetings, develop work plan, identify key tasks, review work and provide direction, and oversee managers.
- Establish a performance monitoring and tracking system, and manage implementation work plan.
- Lead ad hoc strategy projects.
- Anticipate, respond, and evaluate market and M&A opportunities in collaboration with Business Development and Corporate Development.
Annual Business Planning
- Designs annual business planning process for each of our lines of business and Shared Services verticals.
- Work collaboratively with Market Presidents and Shared Services leaders to develop an annual business plan for each market and Shared Services vertical, which will include performance assessment, capability gap analysis, strategic plan, margin improvement initiatives, business plan, and road map.
- Facilitate meetings, review work and provide direction, and oversee managers.
Market Insights & Competitive Analysis
- Work collaboratively with Market Leaders in Business Development to evaluate growth opportunities.
- Oversee the development of a comprehensive market and competitor analysis for each new market and reprocurement.
- Review work plans, facilitate problem solving meetings, provide direction on projects.
- Develop a regular cadence of reports to keep Executive Committee members informed on competitor intelligence and moves as well as environmental trends impacting MLR and other areas of our business.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5-10 years corporate strategy experience either at a management consulting firm or within a corporate development or corporate strategy department.
- 5-10 years health care industry experience.
- Proven track record leading multiple successful strategic planning efforts in a comparably complex environment.
- Strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and presentation skills.
- Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, and the ability to engage, challenge, and influence one’s thinking to effect change throughout the organization.
- Strong analytic and intellectual abilities with an entrepreneurial spirit and drive.
- Advanced knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and processes for strategic planning, business planning, and competitive intelligence with a strong emphasis on advanced and emerging technologies in healthcare and life care.
- Customer oriented approach to working with direct reports, peers, customers and other stakeholders.
