Job Description

This position is responsible for developing and administering the total operation of Adaptive and Inclusive Programming of the new THRIVE center at the South Meridian YMCA. The Director will oversee the safe management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, and financial development within the department. In addition to establishing and managing programs within THRIVE, the director will also serve as an advocate within the association by analyzing and recommending more inclusive and accessible programs and processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or major course work in Autism education and support, therapeutic recreation, Special Education, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Experience working with children with other special needs strongly preferred. Minimum three years of experience working with people with disabilities and specialized recreation and or inclusion program in a community recreation setting. Strong skills in human relations, budgeting and fiscal management, financial development, health and well-being management, and staff and volunteer management. Must be able to meet YMCA transportation requirements. Food Handlers Certification required within 10 days of hire. Can not be on Medicare Exclusion List. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification preferred. Experience with Autism Education and Support. Evidence-based Health Intervention experience preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Create and continue to update THRIVE Leading Practice manual.

2. Work closely with program staff to ensure program operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices, including the standards of the ADA and the disability rights movement.

3. Responsible for, and actively working with and advocating for, participants in THRIVE programs.

4. As program grows, supervise Adaptive and Inclusive staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development.

5. Expand existing programs and establish new programs and activities in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

6. Serve as an advocate within the association, including, but not limited to, working cooperatively with other departments to include analyzing and recommending making programs and processes more inclusive and accessible.

7. Provide professional, standard-compliant adaptive and inclusive support and training to program personal and front-line staff in behavior management and conflict situations.

8. Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

9. Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

10. Manage all aspects of programming to ensure budget, quality and safety expectations are met.

11. Work with the Marketing and Communications team to market and distribute program information.

12. Work with the HR and Risk teams to ensure legal compliance of all programming.

13. Operate in a synergistic manner with other YMCA branches and departments to increase participation through cross-promotion and education.

14. Be a contributing member of assigned Association Program Strategy Team.

15. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations to coordinate program offerings and increase participation in Y programs.

16. Meet position-specific requirements in the Annual Campaign plan and assist in other YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

17. Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential funding sources in coordination with Branch and Association staff.

18. Serve as Program Committee liaison.

Salary

$42,244.00 – $52,790.00
