Director of Innovation Investments and Operations:
Collaborate with internal business and operational owners, partners from treasury, leadership, fund partners, and the Innovation Institute to oversee and ensure investment companies are optimizing operations and building in transparent reporting mechanisms. Work with leadership to execute the Innovation Strategy, including financial growth and investment targets that align with key stakeholders and executive leadership. Focus on term business and financial strategy integration at a program and project levels. Build business cases for new value creation and profitability goals, collaborate with innovation teammates to validate and iterate ideas into feasible roadmaps and work with financial and treasury team members and others to measure business impact.
Essential Functions:
- Build relationships and communication pathways across Bon Secours Mercy Health and partner organizations to increase credibility and integrity of the innovation program and processes. Leverage partnerships to drive Bon Secours Mercy Health’s strategic vision.
- Help ensure sound business and financial measurements of the outputs and outcomes from the investment companies, innovation processes and project pursuits. Collaborate with Financial team and others to capture accurate and meaningful financial yields.
- Seamlessly integrate with innovation and related committees, task forces and affinity groups to communicate and reinforce that innovation is one of the bedrock values of Bon Secours Mercy Health.
- Develop and execute innovation strategies with an emphasis on promoting the ministry’s innovation ecosystem and pursue top-line revenue growth. Develop short and long-term technical deliverable that will position the ministry as both a thought leader and a champion for innovative health solutions, locally and globally. Recommend, develop and assist in the strategic long-range planning process.
- Implement structures and processes to develop and refine approach to innovation and rapidly produce novel insights and solutions. Develop, execute and drive innovative and disruptive operating/development plans to support growth and profitability.
- Engage with leadership to help capture new opportunities to partner with the business community. Evaluate and make recommendations for business development and expansion opportunities within the ministry.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that ideas find optimal channels to enable rapid assessment, synthesis, and development.
- Oversee a portfolio of multiple collaborative projects spanning multiple departments and external innovation partners. Scopes projects, clearly articulates roles and responsibilities and assesses the strategic impact of projects and provides recommendations.
- Increase impact and learning throughout the organization and among our partners. Foster a work environment that rewards risk taking, rapid learning, and a bias for action.
- Provide leadership, direction, mentorship, training and development required to enable a well- functioning and productive innovation team.
- Monitor key market and competitive dynamics, keep abreast of market innovations under development at a national level and collaborate with Analytics leader to ensure insights gained from analytics inform strategic decision making. Reviews the competitive marketplace and makes adjustments to innovation initiatives based upon identified information. Make recommendations for the formulation of the innovation strategies.
- Ensure patient centric innovative programs have a clearly defined objective and plan, and the corresponding success criteria are mapped to ministry goals and objectives.
- Assist with leadership and oversight of the MyIdea Portal and the Innovation Institute relationship.

4 year/Bachelor’s Degree
Health Sciences, HIM or related field

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
- 10 or more years of progressive work history with a solid foundation of innovation principles and strong business acumen within healthcare industry – finance / banking and operations.
