We are looking for a dynamic Information Technology Director with expertise in delivering and supporting various cloud infrastructure technologies and managing IT infrastructure in a hybrid model. The IT Director will manage a team focused on computing, storage, database administration, networking and oversee service provider(s) and technology vendors for building solutions and performing day-to-day operations. The Director will work closely with peers in other business segments and corporate IT leadership for managing IT infrastructure and resources. The management responsibilities include, but not limited to, physical and virtual servers/storage environments, multi-cloud infrastructure, systems database administration and other components to support business applications running on-prem and on cloud.

Primary Responsibilities

Serves customers by:

  • Advising in the definition of business and technology operations enhancements
  • Aligning departmental goals with business goals for execution of the organization’s strategy

Maintains operating efficiency and system performance by:

  • Providing infrastructure services vision, enabling innovation and leveraging technology trends to create business value consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Leading global, strategic technology initiatives to build and maintain key elements of the organization’s enterprise technology infrastructure and associated project portfolio
  • Analyzing technology trends and developing global infrastructure strategy, architecture, and delivery processes designed for agility and cost effectiveness
  • Acquiring new software and hardware, negotiating service contracts and building relationships with vendors and service providers
  • Upgrading current software for different operating systems, compilers, utilities, databases and networks
  • Establishing target dates and monitoring installations
  • Completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs
  • Maintaining equipment inventories

Ensures departmental productivity and identifies opportunities for greater departmental efficiencies and quality by:

  • Demonstrating critical thinking and planning at a strategic, global level.
  • Translating strategic plans into specific objectives, creating and executing project plans to achieve objectives
  • Managing Infrastructure budget and contributing financial management of the Global Information Systems budget.
  • Assigning projects among staff taking into consideration staff skill set and workload
  • Evaluating and monitoring workload of staff to ensure projects are on time; affecting change when necessary
  • Interacting with various internal and external groups to facilitate successful project completion
  • Managing departmental initiatives/special projects
  • Implementing and managing the introduction of new technology and departmental tools
  • Keeping department head advised of current issues

Performs supervisory functions by:

  • Establish leadership in career development, teams building, mentoring and training, and ability to bridge the technical and business concepts
  • Communicating job expectations
  • Planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Coaching, counseling and disciplining staff
  • Identifying and developing key staff for growth within the company
  • Initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
  • Approving direct report’s time sheets, requests for time off and overtime where applicable
  • Performing timely performance evaluations of direct reports
  • Coordinating and conducting new hire interviews; facilitating hiring decision
  • Training new hires on departmental processes and responsibilities

Contributes to overall company communication, cooperation and efficiencies by:

  • Communicating departmental updates to appropriate personnel throughout company
  • Working with the management team to streamline processes
  • Always considering the impact of Information Systems processes, productivity and communication on other departments and the company as a whole when implementing and managing processes
  • Frequently interacting with other departmental supervisors and managers to keep abreast of their respective environments (ie. new ideas, process changes, staffing concerns, etc.)

Maintains Quality Service and Departmental Standards by:

  • Reading, understanding and adhering to organizational Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”)
  • Establishing and enforcing departmental and divisional standards
  • Developing and maintaining departmental procedural manual(s)
  • Reviewing and updating company SOPs related to Information Systems

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required, preferably in Computer Science, Life Sciences or related field

Experience:

  • 5+ years of information systems experience with exposure to various disciplines
  • 2+ years general management experience in information systems required
  • Working knowledge of GCH, ICH guidelines and FDA regulations
  • Experience working with computer software including Word, Excel and Access
