We’re looking to hire a Full Time Cook Manager to join our team.

We’ll be conducting interviews during the month of December and will be looking for new team members to start training in early January 2020.

The Cook Manager is a working manager responsible for food preparation and overseeing the operation of dietary services in the assisted living setting including menu development, ordering, staff hiring & training, scheduling and supervision and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops and maintains menus based on healthy standards and resident preferences.

  • Prepares and presents menus to the resident food committee for review.
  • Meets monthly with the resident food committee and considers their food preferences.
  • Works with the Health Care Coordinator to include healthy food options for residents.

Orders food and supplies regularly ensuring expenses are within the established budget.

  • Establishes relationships with vendors and a regular schedule for ordering food and supplies.
  • Tracks expenses weekly based on the established budget and cost per resident/day.
  • Provides a monthly financial analysis comparing expenses to budget to the administrator.

Provides training and staff supervision to dietary staff.

  • Reviews each staff member’s performance once every 12 months.
  • Ensures that staff are trained in sanitation and proper food preparation techniques including OSHA and Right to Know requirements.
  • Conducts staff meetings.
  • Ensures that staff understand and adhere to corporate standards of conduct and job performance.

Ensures that the kitchen area is maintained according to state and local sanitary standards.

  • Develops and maintains a cleaning schedule for the kitchen area including equipment.
  • Develops and maintains a training schedule for staff in proper sanitation and cleaning procedures.

Supervises and assists with food preparation.

  • Prepares means for residents according to schedule and as needed
  • Supervises food preparation by other staff to ensure quality and sanitation standards are met.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Certified Food Manager’s Certificate
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated financial management and budget management skills.
  • Minimum three years food management experience including supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of state and local food preparation and sanitation regulations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows, Word and Excel
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, sit and move throughout the facility during scheduled shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to type data into a computer.
  • Ability to climb stairs.

License:
