CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

You may not know us but we’ve been quietly helping clients in the commercial aviation business for 30 years. AvAirPros is a privately-held, employee-owned consulting and services firm and we have an interesting, exciting, and challenging position working as an Owner’s Representative, dealing directly with both commercial airport operators and airlines.
What you’ll work on:
As the Construction Project Manager (CPM) you’ll oversee projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during all phases: pre-construction, construction, and closeout. You must have the know how and experience to check design drawings and specifications, manage and run meetings, propose value engineering solutions that reduce project costs, and build and maintain positive working relationship with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues. You can expect to work in office settings, on construction sites, and throughout bustling terminals. Experience working in commercial aviation required…please and thank you.

- Successfully managing the expansion and modernization of aviation facilities
- Preparing and supporting construction and development work plans
- Anticipate and be prepared for plausible happenstances
- Making savvy decisions regarding vendor selection as well as managing reviewing and reporting on the progress of contractors
- Tracking change orders, developing and completing punch lists, reviewing close out documents
- Managing project related documents and maintaining a project file system
- Preparing memos, reports, briefings and other client deliverables including spreadsheets, complex graphs, charts and tables
- Supporting the construction team with tracking and reporting of logistics plans, phasing plans and construction activities
- Reviewing monthly invoices
- Checking design drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and request for information, and reviewing regularly with the airport authority
- Orchestrating weekly meetings and providing follow-up documentation
- Proposing value engineering solutions to reduce program costs when necessary
- Preventing or reducing errors, delays, and program costs
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with the clients, stakeholders, and colleagues
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule to support evolving project needs; helps to know the good local breakfast spots for post-all nighters!
What you’ve done so far:
- 5+ years experience working for a CM or GC on large complex aviation projects
- Worked collaboratively with clients, contractors, architects, and other industry professionals
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills
- Fine-tuned your analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Developed impressive oral and written communication skills
- Mastered the art of relationship building and motivating teams
How you build the foundation:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction/Building Management or B.Arch in Architecture or related degree
- Project Management certification is a plus
