DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources seeks to synthesize the strengths of the individual employees with the mission of the organization to foster organizational wellness as a prerequisite to organizational excellence and peak performance. The position seeks to optimize work quality-of-life by attending to the changing needs of the individuals and the organization. This is a full-time opportunity.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Human Resources collaborates with the COO and all other supervisors to program all facets of performance management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Employee Engagement:

  • Leads employee engagement by identifying existing, creating new and improving work processes associated with the employee experience.
  • Leads the deployment and implementation of a cultural transformation program and manages the measurement and execution of tools to support culture change in support of business objectives.
  • Develops systems for collecting and analyzing employee feedback, with the aim of creating a better working environment and engaged culture.
  • Manages employee opinion survey development, distribution, analysis, communication and measurement activities.
  • Contributes to long-term goals around business and staff development including employee engagement, career development, retention and succession planning.
  • Pursues an in-depth understanding of the interdependence of job functions within the company. Works closely with the COO to identify urgent issues and with department heads to fine tune operations.
  • Attends meetings of the company leadership, preparing and presenting information as needed.
  • Oversees company s training activities, with an emphasis on improving organizational communication.

Human Resources Management responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of human resource services including recruiting, onboarding, staff training and development, benefits and compensation, performance management, employee and labor relations, and compliance.


Position Description:

Manages Union relations and negotiations. Liaison with attorneys as necessary. Foster stronger, more functional, union-management partnership.

  • Serves as the primary and trusted contact for all employee relations matters. Fosters good working relationships with staff at all levels. Takes a genuine interest in the trajectory of the employee. Builds trust.
  • Coaches supervisors and managers on supervisory skills, employee relations disciplinary actions, performance management, and problem solving.
  • Continually analyzes and improves HR systems – especially performance management.
  • Oversees HR records management. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws regarding all human resource processes.
  • Oversees HR investigations. Ensures that investigations are prompt, thorough, and impartial. Interviews interested parties and collects evidence. Maintains investigative reports.


Brand Development:

  • Serves as the key organizational change agent; visionary and evangelist. Leads the transformation to a more open, inclusive, integrated, values-driven organization.
  • Elevates the mission, vision and values of Gimme! Coffee. Clarifies company goals to achieve a shared sense of purpose and commitment to the process. Improves employee engagement to achieve measurable progressive community impacts and financial performance.
  • Contributes toward a positive employment brand by creating an environment that both employees and external constituents view as a desirable place to work. Works through marketing to post employee and company successes on social media.


QUALIFICATIONS


Experience, Education and Training:

  • Minimum seven (7) years leading the Human Resource Management function of a mid-sized business.
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent, required. Master’s preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to bring teams together rallying around the same goals while building and mentoring staff for the long-term success of the group.
  • Genuine interest in people and human development.
  • Ease of being present; holding space.
  • Experience managing and differentiating individual performance levels to provide employee feedback for performance improvements, career

development coaching and guidance, recognition and rewards for top performers, and holding below average performers accountable for not meeting expectations.

  • Demonstrated urgency in meeting deadlines.
  • Track record of setting ambitious goals and delivering on commitments.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills as demonstrated by the ability to think deeply and systemically about business problems, breaking down problems and presenting creative solutions while evaluating the pros and cons of each option.
  • Can adapt and develop world-class best practices inside the organization that create significant competitive advantages by improving efficiency and accountability.
  • Keen interest in remaining aware of changing landscape of HR and organizational development.
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Valid driver s license.
