POSITION SUMMARY: (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives)
This position supports the BISSELL Business Ventures group. Within BISSELL, BBV is the center marketing force for identifying, analyzing, incubating and commercializing innovative business opportunities that support the near-term, mid and long term goals and objectives. The group will accomplish this through identifying growth opportunities (adjacent markets, new products/services/offerings, strategic partnerships, etc.), determining strategic fit, financial attractiveness, and commercializing approved new business opportunities to achieve corporate revenue and profit growth.
The Associate Director Air Care is accountable to the General Manager/Director and has responsibility for the integration of marketing, sales and product plans for the air care (consumer air purification and filtration) line of products within the Air Care category – existing and new. The Associate Director Air Care will need to launch new products, establish the product road map to assure future success and growth as well as maintaining and growing the current line to achieve EBITDA/profit goals. This position requires a minimum of 15+ years of product development marketing experience, a BA/BS in marketing, or related field.
Candidate must demonstrate proven experience with consumer program development, line extension development and sales, as well as leadership of cross-functional teams.
POSITION PROFILE (Major duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities)
- Air Care Business development, launch and in market growth
- Leads the discovery and analytical process of understanding consumer needs.
- Leads the definition of and development of major products/product lines that solve for those needs.
- Anticipates consumer wants, wishes that are 1 – 3+ years in the future.
- Initiates and leads critical advanced development work on the consumer and product front.
- Utilizing advanced marketing principles, identifies and defines consumer needs
- Independently develops marketing plan for area of responsibility.
- Identifies and executes consumer programs, including advertising but, importantly, going beyond advertising, that increase consumer loyalty and drive purchase
- Develop, manage and implement consumer research to develop product positioning and strategic marketing direction
- Develop, lead, and implement in conjunction with outside resources, packaging, merchandising, advertising and promotional programs;
- Lead the forecasting and attainment of annual sales, financial and marketing objectives for area of responsibility.
- Strong financial skills.
- Develop projects/products with gross margin and allocable operating income that meet/exceed objectives and profitability expectations
- Responsible for managing budgets including market research, advertising, packaging and display items
- Ability and willingness to seek out and integrate global perspective where possible to enable growth beyond North America
- Represents the voice of the consumer to R&D, sales, manufacturing, consumer services;
- Travel as deemed necessary; may include global regions – roughly 20%

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree
- Specific concentration: Marketing, or Related Field
- Experience level: 15+ years of consumer product development marketing
