The VP, PR and Communications – Florida Market, reports the Corporate VP, Communications. S/he will ensure the Corporate Communications strategy is reflected across the State of Florida, including scaling the HCA Healthcare story across the state and emphasizing the value of HCA Healthcare to internal and external audiences. S/he will oversee the implementation and execution of a state-wide PR and Communications strategy that aligns to the HCA Enterprise PR and Communications strategy, as well as advance local and statewide PR and Communications objectives. S/he will be responsible for developing communications strategies in alignment with the Enterprise and Florida Market brands, and will partner closely with Division VPs of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, a well as their respective division communication leads, to gain insights and execute these strategies.
Responsibilities include managing crisis communication in partnership with Corporate media team and division leadership. This individual must collaborate closely with Corporate Communications, Brand Strategy, Government Relations, Human Resources and each Florida division’s leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute and sustain a multi-year, multi-channel strategy to bring the HCA Healthcare story to life in the State of Florida, focusing on the following key audiences: Government Relations, Payor Relations, Physicians, Colleagues, Nurses, Crisis Communications, Acquisitions and internal communications.
- Establish and integrate an earned media strategy that aligns to overarching marketing and growth strategies of each Florida Division to promote the Florida market brand in relation to the HCA Healthcare enterprise brand.
- Collaborate with corporate communications, division leadership, and other stakeholders (including, but not limited to, Human Resources, Government Relations, Payor Relations, Clinical Services, Physician Services, and Information Technology) to effectively cascade communication and key messages to colleagues within the State of Florida.
- In partnership with Government Relations, be knowledgeable of and navigate political and regulatory environments within the State of Florida. Serve as an advisor to local Marketing and Communications leadership on state-wide regulations that may impact local communications strategies.
- Lead communications working groups in the development and execution of internal communications initiatives and programs on behalf of executive leadership such as organizational changes and new or existing campaigns.
- Support and promote the HCA Healthcare brand purpose and attributes in all forms of communication. Works closely with the Brand Strategy team to ensure adherence and alignment of internal and external communications messaging and content with the HCA Healthcare brand standards.
- Work closely with the Corporate Marketing team to stay abreast of key marketing initiatives, goals, and outcomes that impact local Florida Markets.
- Guide and influence internal and external communication within the State of Florida that represents the HCA Healthcare enterprise including an approach to coordinating and enforcing standards, consistency, and appropriate messaging across initiatives and audiences oftentimes through collaboration with Division and Corporate partners.
- Establishes a framework for measurement of PR, Earned Media, and owned communications efforts.
- Builds strong relationships with regional and digital media outlets, including relationships with key media personnel.
- Serves as spokesperson for high visibility state-wide public relations issues, events and initiatives. Steps in to support local public relations issues, as needed.
- Documents a crisis communication strategy for the State of Florida in line with crisis communications best practices and in alignment with the corporate crisis communication plan/policies. Localizes crisis communications strategies to Division and facility Marketing and Communications teams for local implementation.
- Collaborates with both Division and senior facility leaders to design and implement targeted public awareness campaigns, strategic media relations and crisis communications.
- Supports execution of internal communications for key stakeholder and influencer audiences. Ensures appropriate messaging based on internal stakeholder requirements.
- Consults and leads best practice sharing across Divisions within the State of Florida, as well as other divisions.
- Proactively identify and recommend opportunities to strengthen HCA Healthcare’s brand with internal audiences through strategic involvement in professional associations (including conferences, tradeshows, speaking engagements, and awards)
Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience required
- 7+ years of management experience required
Education:
- Undergraduate college degree required
- Master’s degree preferred

Healthcare and Hospital Operations
- Healthcare and hospital operations experience preferred
