The incoming VPAA will lead all academic functions of the college, support existing programs, and innovate to ensure that MCAD educational offerings continue to meet the evolving needs of today’s students in the context of our rapidly-changing world. To do this, the VPAA will work closely with the President, other senior leaders on the Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC), the Academic Cabinet—which comprises the academic leaders and staff of the college—and leaders of the Faculty Senate. The VPAA will join an experienced team that works collaboratively to advance MCAD’s mission.
The recent appointment of a dynamic new President who brings a strong commitment to global perspectives and community impact coupled with MCAD’s location in a lively arts and culturally-focused Twin Cities metropolitan area form a strong platform for growth. Within that context, the VPAA plays a critical role in determining MCAD’s future, particularly in relation to the growth and development of academic programs as well as the organization and deployment of human and fiscal resources. The VPAA will drive the academic vision for MCAD; recruit and support talented faculty who can lead strong academic and artistic programs; play an important role in efforts to renew existing facilities and integrate novel technologies into the classroom; and champion the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Most importantly, the VPAA will do this with an understanding and appreciation of the commitment to educating the next generation of cultural leaders that is central to MCAD’s institutional identity.
