Job Description Summary:

The Senior Director, Head of Facility Operations is responsible for the operations and development of the Facilities Operations Department and managing the day to day functions of the department and sites. This position establishes, manages and maintains the facilities aesthetics and creates a conducive work environment that allows employees and associates to complete their work in a productive, safe manner and to contribute to their ability to achieve PTC’s business objectives.

Primary responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, providing oversight for the following functions: Maintenance; Lab Services; Manufacturing Support (GXP-GMP); Custodial, Office Services, Supplier Management and Shipping and Receiving.

The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources on Facilities related issues.

The Senior Director, facilities ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

Job Description:

Primary duties/responsibilities:
  • Actively participates in the design, planning and construction of buildings, equipment and machinery to support global offices and laboratories for employees and associates. Works with various departments to analyze support needs regarding facilities, equipment and other support services.
  • Create relevant metrics (KPI’s) in order to effectively measure site productivity in terms of quality, speed and costs.
  • Manages all aspects of the Budget specifically relating to each of the sites and their respective Total Occupancy Cost (TOC). The incumbent will work directly with the Executive Director of Strategic Projects and CapEx to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and at or under budget.
  • Coordinate all activities with external service providers including sourcing and contract negotiation.
  • Develops, oversees and monitors all site related systems to protect company assets. The incumbent is the site Disaster Recovery Contingency Coordinator and interacts with local emergency management departments in the event of a site emergency. Monitors facilities during off hours to ensure operational readiness and response during site facilities emergencies.
  • Oversees the maintenance of equipment, machinery, and buildings, including establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance services, emergency repair services and equipment certifications as necessary, as well as maintaining service agreements for all critical equipment. He/She also oversees laboratory and manufacturing services provided to the CMC team. All building utilities are managed by the incumbent.
  • Manages building services including the custodial services, office management, incident management and non cGMP shipping and receiving.
  • Manages, develops and mentors direct reports and the Facilities team.
  • Develops, reviews and approves all department policies and procedures and leads or participates in cross-functional management teams that are developing corporate policies and/or initiatives.
  • Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in Facilities Management and/or construction preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment.
  • Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.
  • Prior experience with environmental health and safety management programs and compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various groups to ensure conformance to regulatory requirements, internal processes, and policies as required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing, coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Detail oriented, resourceful, creative and flexible with superior people skills for interacting with a wide constituency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred.
