The ROLE Summarized:
As a Project Manager with McCarthy Improvement, you will oversee all activities and personnel for the efficient completion of heavy civil projects. You will work with the Superintendent to oversee projects from start to finish, ensuring the projects at the world’s busiest airport are completed in accordance with the project design, budget, and schedule.
What will you be doing?
As you know, in project management, each day and project are different! The core functions of this role include:
- Review project proposals to determine time frame, budget, labor, and allotment of available resources during various phases of a project.
- Perform the budgeting, quality control, purchasing, procurement, safety and health, in addition to other tasks.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Establish a work plan and staffing for each phase of a project – arrange for the recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Oversees and manages supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances.
- Analyzes and reviews labor and production reports, develops solutions, and adjusts project specifications to enhance efficiencies.
The Location:
This position will be based in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate must have the ability to regularly travel up to 500 miles from the local office which may include nights, weekends and overnight stays, based on work demands.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or a related field of study with over five years’ DOT / FAA project management experience OR in the absence of a degree, nine years’ project management experience in heavy highway construction.
- Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other heavy civil construction scopes.
- Demonstrated prioritization and organizational skills with a high level of detail orientation.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
- Experience using Primavera.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
