This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with relevant experience to take a Personnel Director position and play a key role on the local leadership team. It’s an excellent step in any labor or HR career path, including a Personnel Director role in a larger facility.
The site Personnel Director is responsible for Human Resources (HR), Labor Relations (LR) and some site Safety related activities in the Customer Care& Aftersales (CCA) Parts Distribution Centers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Martinsburg, West Virginia. Work related vehicle for travel provided.
Responsibilities:

Negotiate and administer local and national agreements

Participate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activities, i.e. Leadership Council, SRB, Key 4, GMS Steering, ADAPT, etc.)

Ensure adherence to the Grievance Procedure with focus on those appealed to the local shop committee in accordance with national agreement timelines
-
Promote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreements – manages conflict/problem resolution

Effectively manage investigations relative to Aware lines, Conflicts of Interest, NLRB, Open Door/JustUs
-
Manage hourly, contract and salaried employment administration

Provide HR partnership for the site (i.e. lead site HRM meetings with site leadership, ensure effective talent and performance management, 9-box calibration, compensation planning, policy administration, hiring and candidate selection process, on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, development planning, etc.)

Assist the Plant Manager in driving and supporting cultural change and Workplace of Choice initiatives to improve employee engagement

Ensure effective communication forums are in place (diagonal slice, focus groups etc.)

Facilitate training for supervision on HR / LR – related policies/procedures and assist management entraining on UAW Local and National agreements

Champion Workplace Safety System Element as assigned and local administration of safety related items

Notify Divisional Safety and CCA Leadership of site Governmental agency visit, Near Miss, Recordable, Sentinel Events and Lost Work Day Incidents

Prompt notification to Divisional Safety of all written Safety Complaints and assist in their resolution to ensure Safety policy and procedures are not compromised

Support the Safety Review Board meetings

Site champion for People Involvement

Maintain a pulse of the organization through engagement and participation in various floor activities such as layered audits, safety observation tours, operations meetings, quality walks, etc.

As site Culture champion ensure implementation of CCA cultural behavior activities and use of cultural transformation tools
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience working in an HR or Labor Relations position
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HR applications
- Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative
- Highly proficient analytical, organizational and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Experience:
- Master’s degree in business, HR or related discipline
- Experience of providing HR support to a salaried organization (hiring, talent management, performance management, compensation, HRM planning)
- Experience of managing Labor Relations in a unionized environment and knowledge of UAW/GM National Agreement
- Understanding of Health and Safety practices and requirements
- Experience with PeopleSoft, Taleo and SuccessFactors applications
