About Founding Director of Culture
Director of Culture: As a professional educator or counselor, the Director of Culture (DoC) understands the diverse and changing needs of student populations of girls. The Director of Culture reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Principal. The DoC cultivates a climate of positivity, cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and belonging that empowers and propels our girls’ global competence. The DoC will take care to support and advise the student culture as well as their experiential learning and college and career readiness. The DoC will consistently demonstrate service, leadership, integrity, collaboration, and empathy, and promote those core qualities in the students.
Member of the Leadership Team: The DoC is a team builder and experienced manager â you will collaborate with the whole school community. You are open and direct about fulfilling the needs of all stakeholders and a high level of student engagement. You need to be able to communicate clearly with students and staff. You will also be expected to develop the culture of the school and collaborate with other leaders to ensure there is consistent implementation â you will be one of the glue holders between the executive team, students, and parents/staff and a key part of the decision making for the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required and Graduate Degree Required
- Administrator I Certificate preferred
- Background on conflict management preferred
- 2+ years educational leadership experience
- Managerial experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Make data-driven decisions
- Experience organizing professional development
- Experience providing instructional support
- Experience designing and implementing educational programs
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position
Key Responsibilities
Director of Culture Duties and Responsibilities
Programmatic Support
- Actively engages all stakeholders in the delivery and support of girls’ social-emotional development
- Develops, manages, and supports the advisory program
- Plans, implements and supports the Wednesday Leadership Program
- Plans student retreats in collaboration with the Principal, Experiential Coordinator, and external partner
- Solicits and analyzes student feedback on the academics, supports, and culture of GGA in collaboration with the Principal
College and Career Readiness
- Supports the students’ pathways to college and career in collaboration with the College and Career Readiness counselor
- Develops, supports, and manages the student mentorship program in collaboration with the Principal
- Advises and supports students in their Pathways choice
- Supports students in developing and managing their student portfolios
Behavior
- Develops, supervises, manages, and maintains student in-school culture
- Develops the school’s initiative for the use of restorative practices in collaboration with the Student Support Services Coordinator
- Provides staff development around restorative practices in collaboration with external partners and the Principal
- Conduct and supervise restorative circles
Community Engagement
- Fosters positive relationships with students
- Develops regular communication protocols with parents
- Delivers thoughtful guidance and support with advisory groups
- Engages professionally and enthusiastically with new school initiatives
- Lead extra-curricular activities during and/or after school
