Position Overview
The Director of Procurement will be accountable for the sourcing and purchase of materials, equipment, applications, systems and services critical to the development and delivery of Adaptive’s products. This role will lead the procurement function into the next stage, putting in place more effective and efficient processes to ensure optimal pricing, mitigation of risks and compliance as Adaptive grows.
This position reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain, Sourcing and Site Operations and will be an integral member of Adaptive’s supply chain and procurement team as well as a key interface with R&D, Commercial, Operations, Finance and Legal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Sourcing
- Develop and execute category strategies in alignment with corporate and functional business plans
- Translate technical and business requirements into clear procurement specifications and expectations in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Lead the request for proposal (RFP) process
- Lead the initiation, commercial negotiations and review and approval process for agreements
- Lead all areas of supplier management including improvement plans and savings targets
- Lead risk management analyses
- Support make/buy evaluations
Purchasing
- Manage transactions and projects in accordance with agreed category strategies and cost targets
- Manage purchasing requisition and purchase order process
- Communicate forecast to suppliers, verifying fulfillment and on time delivery
- Main point of contact for issues both internal and external with suppliers
- Have a strong understanding of bill of materials
- Understand key forecast inputs, trends and downstream impact on materials/availability
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers to implement strategic solutions to continually improve transaction processes
- Work closely with suppliers to proactively eliminate shortages, as required
Process/Systems
- Develop and measure key performance indicators
- Lead continuous improvements initiatives, including tracking and reporting of functional metrics
- Evaluation of future systems improvements to increase visibility, ability to interrogate data and automate workflows
Leadership
- Recruit and coach a team, enabling each member to grow in their current role and prepare for their next one
- Lead matrixed teams and ensuring senior stakeholders makers have the right data for decisions
Requirements
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant procurement and strategic sourcing related experience
- Business acumen, including both industry, financial and regulatory perspectives
- Multiple Category Procurement experience
- Experience managing projects from source to implementation
- Experience in negotiating pricing, contract terms and conditions and statements of work
- Experience managing teams, including leadership of both matrixed teams and direct reports
- Ability to be both strategic and detail focused with strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience and Capabilities:
- Advanced degree including MBA
- CPM or CPSM
- Demonstrated record of successful cost reduction and operational efficiency
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical, device or molecular technology industry
- Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
