JOB RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
- Prepares, monitors, and maintains the recruitmentâs five-year strategic plan, the annual report, the annual report update, the work plan and the assessment plan. All are tied into the campus mission and goals statement and comparable reports created for the campus, academic affairs council, and the academic affairs unit.
- Develops annual recruitment plan and schedule, as well as day-to-day operations including all recruitment activities, supervision of staff, research and planning, communication, and budget management.
- Assures that the necessary recruitment services and programs are provided by supervising strategic enrollment management functions that include student recruitment and student orientation; allocates resources (human, financial, and programmatic) for recruitment efforts and creates extensive metrics for measuring their success; directs the planning, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive recruitment program directed at attracting targeted cohorts to the university.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes occupational, scholarship, departmental, economic, and market data for dissemination to provide strategic recommendations used to target potential students more effectively; support data requests as required by accrediting bodies and other internal/external organizations. Researches and prepares reports in concert with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness for projects related to recruitment data and present reports to the campus community.
- Establishes partnerships with key professional associations and individuals in higher and secondary education. Serves as the main liaison to the Office of Admissions and Records. Collaborates with Communications and Marketing to develop a full range of creative materials and communication plans to assist in elevating the overall brand and strategy for undergraduate recruiting to assure a vibrant perpetual student recruitment environment.
- Generates communication plans to support prospect-to-admitted conversion and admitted student lock-in. Establishes forecasts and achieves new student start rate and readmission plans. Identifies, designs, develops, implements, and monitors future projects as the need arises.
- Provides supervision, direction and leadership to recruitment staff, to include training, orientation, review of standards, and performance appraisals. Assures adequate staffing levels and productivity through effective personnel management. This includes but is not limited to selection and hiring of employees coupled with their being training, developed, motivated, and effectively managed. Provides regular feedback, observation and support to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff. Provides feedback throughout the year to employees and completing official evaluations annually. Routinely examines job descriptions for staff at least annually to assure all are current.
- Provides leadership, direction, and coordination for the work of the undergraduate recruitment team. Makes collaborative decisions to ensure needs are met or exceeded through the delivery of quality services.
- Manages recruitment budget and monitor inquiry source results and cost effectiveness.
- Ensures compliance with all ECU policies and procedures, ethical standards, and compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Displays effective supervision skills including completion of associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Knowledge and strong skills in the area of integrated software systems and statistical analysis software packages.
- Skilled at overseeing marketing campaigns and events and creative about engaging strategic partners and ability to be an able administrator and supervisor who can delegate and manage assignments and oversee a staff of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- Ability to effectively provide comprehensive recruitment services for students at the college level.
- Ability to efficiently prepare and effectively inform campus community of recruitment data.
- An exceptional listener with the desire to empower his/her direct reports and encourage their success.
- Commitment to customer service, with experience working with students from non-traditional and diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated motivational and problem-solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the University’s mission.
- Commitment to continual professional development and an understanding of the need for future-planning based on demographic trends.
- Ability to represent ECU in a professional manner and to conduct compelling and persuasive presentations to small and large groups.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to work effectively among diverse population in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelorâs Degree required, Masterâs Degree preferred.
- Three years of experience in higher education administration (in an area related to student enrollment services, such as admissions, recruitment, marketing, financial aid, program development and/or enrollment management), or in recruitment, program development, marketing, or sales in the public, private, or non-profit sector.
- Proven ability to inspire, motivate and lead a sales team.
- Education and/or work experience must demonstrate that you meet all of the minimum qualifications.
