The University of Northern Iowa’s School of Music is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Opera. This is a Renewable Term Faculty position. Primary responsibilities of the position include teaching courses focused on fundamentals of stagecraft and acting for singers, directing opera scenes performances, and functioning as an integral member of the voice division. Additional duties include directing full opera productions and coordinating production schedules during semesters in which full technical support and facilities are available and as academic teaching load permits. Other duties may be assigned according to departmental need and instructorâs area of expertise. Service responsibilities to the department and university may include recruiting and outreach activities, and maintaining a positive rapport with public school music educators and opera professionals in the field.

Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in a related field required. Doctorate degree preferred.
Required Qualifications:
Significant directing experience of full-staged operas required.
