The Director, North America Procurement has the critical objective to build, lead, and develop the NA Procurement organization across functions, including building and owning the standards for how the team operates to deliver flawless execution of the procurement strategies into actions for each assigned business/function. This role will serve as the procurement lead business partner for the NA Region Leadership Team, and is a key contributor to meeting EBITDA target, both through cost reduction and bringing innovation/capabilities from the supply market to drive sales. The Director, NA Procurement is responsible and accountable for developing and managing the overall sourcing and supplier management process, and delivering fit for purpose vendor solutions. Develop regional sourcing strategies and execution plans, and drive alignment between global category strategy and the needs and requirements of the region: • Translate regional business strategies into actionable sourcing plans: 1) define regional category sourcing strategies, and 2) implement/execute global sourcing plans in North America, including customizing regional sourcing strategy to drive value in specific functional business environment, together with legal & regulatory context Deliver value for customers: • Business partnering with the NA President and Leadership Team to maximize value and manage risk by understanding supply markets; understand and apply complex cost baselines; and develop models to assess total cost of ownership and related savings • Provide thought leadership to senior stakeholders and customers, actively shaping the customer’s overall strategy through the sourcing lens • Identify and deliver productivity targets, and ensure validation of savings Lead and develop people: • Prioritize team’s work among several initiatives, and provide performance feedback and career counseling • Act as a role model both for and outside of the team, coaching team members, and fostering a performance culture to drive best results and continuous improvements Drive compliance by ensuring business understanding of Procurement policies and compliance fundamentals: • Establish, drive, and monitor fit for purpose Procurement policies compliance. Establish, monitor, and report on set of agreed performance metrics Manage contracts: • Develop complex, often multi-year incentive-based contracts with new suppliers, and renegotiate existing contracts Manage supplier relations: • Work with internal business customers and suppliers to identify and articulate long-term strategic value that can be obtained through supplier collaboration • Initiate supplier improvement programs and drive continual value from key supplier relationships Other duties as assigned. - Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, required. • MBA preferred • 10 or more years of previous work experience in Management Consulting, Finance, Procurement and Sourcing, or a combination of these areas • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience in leading teams, projects, programs and directing the allocation of resources • Greenfield operations experience, with a high ability to work autonomously, with minimum guidance, while dealing with a high degree of ambiguity Proven ability to lead teams in a matrix organization, across functional reporting lines • Demonstrated track record of problem solving, identifying root causes to issues and proactively resolving problems through a fact-based and business case approach while resolving conflicts within teams • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor direct reports in Category and Project Management • Ability to own and strengthen relationships with key business partners & executives • Compelling and persuasive communicator (oral and written) with excellent interpersonal skills and a high acumen to identify/assess business and financial opportunities • Ability to motivate teams to produce superior results • Category Expert in indirect spend categories (G&A and Commercial/Marketing), with expert knowledge of at least 2 indirect categories • Expert in leading large differentiated programs, including and through implementation and contracting of preferred supplier agreements • Strong project management skills with a proven record of driving fact based solutions • Expert knowledge of supply base, including market economics, supply base cost structure, supply base trends, supplier segmentation • Expert knowledge of the market forces shaping customer’s business context (e.g. legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage) • Demonstrated expertise in identifying and utilizing full set of supply levers to drive category performance, including complex collaboration with suppliers. • Ability to conduct benchmarking and measure sourcing performance along all dimensions of cost, quality, risk, innovation and operating processes • Leader in driving compliance and operational excellence through procurement processes, systems and policies • Ability to provide thought leadership to customers and actively shape customer’s overall strategy through sourcing lens. • Expert negotiation and presentation/consulting skills • Deep understanding and operational command of the procurement process, with an ability to mentor staff in how to (re)engineer, deploy and use for maximum benefit • Experience in setting up and using e-procurement tools • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to quantify financial benefits through business case development through interaction across several business functions and decision makers • Experienced at developing complex cost and financial models, while business partnering with Finance leadership in order to achieve and validate results • Highly proficient with Excel (with ability to create sophisticated data files for analysis) and MS Office with good PowerPoint presentation ability (convincing, visually appealing) • Strong acumen to draw strategic insight from analysis, and to effectively summarize and present insight based on the needs of the audience through an effective story line and communication approach
