This position is responsible for the leadership and management of the company’s finance and business operations functions, in both a hands-on and oversight capacity.
The position requires proven success in creating, managing and maintaining financial systems and processes, bringing an insightful perspective in identifying opportunities for financial growth, assessing and monitoring overall financial health, and juggling multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will balance strategic and analytical thinking with a drive to action.
Primary responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable Grow’s finance and business operations team, whose key functions include accounting, benefits management, facilities, and IT.
- Represent finance & business operations on the agency’s leadership team, helping drive the direction of the company.
- Oversee the company’s general ledger and ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Deliver clear, consistent, and meaningful financial reports to company leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Analyze company and project finances to identify issues, trends, and actionable insights.
- Direct and manage the implementation and ongoing utilization of financial systems and software, including relevant integrations with agency systems.
- Establish and maintain effective financial policies, processes, and controls.
- Develop the company’s annual budget, and work with departmental leaders to monitor associated expenses and revenues, updating forecasts at appropriate intervals.
- Produce financial reporting for, and coordinate all relationships with financial institutions.
- Provide financial guidance on client engagements, and establish relationships with client finance teams where appropriate to help ensure alignment and timely payments.
- Ensure proper processing of tax returns.
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required, preferably for a creative service or technology service company. CPA and/or MBA is preferred. Experience with Quickbooks, Harvest, and/or Business Intelligence software are all a plus.

This is a full-time position at our office in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Grow offers paid relocation and temporary housing for selected candidates.
