Supervise and evaluate Teen leaders and assistant teen director where applicable; oversee day-to-day operation of City of Rockville teens programs; works with the supervisor to insure that programs and policies of the program are in accordance with those of the department and youth camp regulations; promotes camp unity and spirit through various recreational activities appropriate for the program with a high degree of enthusiasm; coordinates all details of the program to ensure smooth and safe operation of daily activities; responsible for dividing campers into specific groups and handling discipline problems as they occur, which subordinate staff may be unable to handle; Supervises participants and ensures that safety precautions are carried out at all times during trips and activities; insures good public relations and responsiveness to the participants and citizens of Rockville; responsible for planning activities in advance to insure adequate supplies, and equipment are available at time of program; maintains various logs and records as assigned and needed by the department; submits paperwork on time (i.e., timesheets, staff evaluations, etc.); notifies supervisor of any situations involving injuries, accidents, or emergencies with participants or staff. Ensures all participant paperwork is complete and on file at site.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
CPR, First Aid and AED certification required; good communication skills; customer service orientated; knows how to swim.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience (two to three years) supervising children in recreation activities or related field preferred.
EDUCATION:
Educational courses equivalent to two years of college or an equal amount of supervisory experience with children; 21 years of age preferred.
