Your Impact as a Senior Director of Benefits
The Senior Director of Benefits is responsible for leading the long-term strategy, design, and implementation of all US benefit programs, providing advice and governance for non-US benefit programs and managing our global wellbeing initiatives. An effective leader in this position will be responsible for driving the firmâs competitive position in the labor market by developing and implementing new benefit and wellbeing strategies. This individual will manage the firmâs various employee benefit programs including health, wellbeing, absence, qualified and nonqualified retirement and pension plans in the U.S. This role is a member of the Total Rewards leadership team and will report to the Global Head of Total Rewards.
Job Responsibilities:
Leader of the U.S. benefits team and a member of the global rewards leadership team based in Chicago, IL
Lead benefits team to set benefits strategy aligned to the values and strategy of the firm
Provide leadership and strategic direction of colleague communications, education and a strong focus on user experience related to benefits
Manage team of six to eight professionals to execute strategy while also leveraging our unmatched internal commercial benefit resources
Manage large vendor relationships (with consultants, administrators, record keepers, insurance carriers, trustees, etc.) for the delivery of benefits administration, including oversight for budgets, billing and service procurement
Provide advice to HR and Reward leaders on benefit issues outside the US market and evolve the approach to global governance of benefit programs
Work collaboratively with and act as thought leader for other internal partners (finance, legal, etc.) to ensure benefit programs are cost effective, legally compliant and competitive
Responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing colleague benefits programs
Manage and support the execution of new and ongoing projects and deliverables while being an active hands-on participant in the process
Lead team efforts in developing solutions to difficult or complex situations to ensure goals and objectives are met, including delivering results on time and within budget
Oversee development and implementation of procedures to ensure that programs are administered efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
Play a key role in the professional development and performance of benefits team members
You Bring Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum of 10 years of benefits experience including deep expertise in U.S. benefits strategy, health and welfare strategy/administration and strong working knowledge of retirement benefits (qualified and nonqualified 401(k) and pension plans)
Self-starter with the ability to operate independently while maintaining alignment with key stakeholders and leadership
Proven ability to resolve complex benefits issues and successful integrations
Working knowledge of ERISA and benefits-related laws and regulations
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of effective leadership
Strong influencing skills in a highly networked organization, stakeholder identification and management
Strong customer service orientation with proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team player and desire to work in a collaborative environment with a variety of stakeholders
Agile learner able to adapt quickly to change
Strong attention to detail and self-directed to ensure data integrity and accuracy at all times
Working knowledge of financials, budgets/accruals of benefit plans
Supervisory experience, coaching and mentoring others
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present effectively to senior management
Well organized and delivery-driven with good completion skills
Ability to quickly identify problems, opportunities, and alternative courses of action
Ability to consult on application of policy and process as well as trends, themes, and solutions
Ability to travel when required
