You Will Be Responsible For:
- Leads and works with operational teams to implement the framework for safe, reliable and effective care (IHI) in work units throughout the organization including the acute care hospital and ambulatory settings in the four domains of Psychological Safety, accountability (Just Culture), Teamwork and Communication, Negotiation.
- Designs, builds, and implements the use of the organizational culture of safety model, learning system (identifies defects and fixes them) and leadership.
- Provides senior level project management support to multidisciplinary teams focusing on high-priority safety initiatives in the four domains. Serves as the content expert on improvement methodologies and imparts knowledge of improvement process to team leaders and the team. Assists the team in identifying barriers to implementing improvement plans and developing strategy to overcome these barriers.
- Develops the analytic and measurement strategy for all projects undertaken, including development of key metrics, identification of data sources, collection of baseline data and development of a sustainability methodology.
- Communicates regularly with team stakeholders and executive sponsors about team progress toward goal achievement, critical factors and obstacles.
- Oversees project management and logistics such as project timelines, agenda development, production and distribution of meeting minutes and documents and preparation of reports on project status and activities to various audiences.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- Masterâs Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Healthcare or related field (MSN, MHA, MPH, etc.)
- 7-10+ years of leadership in healthcare safety management or process improvement
- 7-10+ years of clinical frontline experience in healthcare organization
- Certification from a nationally-recognized body in a quality improvement methodology/toolset such as Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, etc. Certification in additional toolsets may be required as organizational needs evolve.
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety or equivalent.
- Expert-level in process design, process measurement, data analysis and improvement strategies and the use of process analysis/modeling/simulation tools. Ability to work with quantitative data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor message to individuals and audiences throughout the institution.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to focus detailed and concentrated efforts to multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary. Ability to effectively respond to time sensitive issues and meet deadlines.
- Initiative and ability to work independently (self-direction), while thriving in a setting requiring collaboration and teamwork for maximal efficiency and effectiveness. Attention to detail that ensures follow through on all initiatives implemented, and all projects undertaken.
Job Summary:
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the general direction of the Chief Quality and Safety Officer, and in close collaboration with the Safety and High Reliability Executive Director, the Safety Culture Executive Director will provide project management, redesign processes within the IHI safety framework and support execution of new safety processes and initiatives in the following four domains; Psychological Safety, Accountability (Just Culture), Teamwork and Communication, Negotiation for AdventHealth for both the acute and ambulatory care settings. The Safety Culture Executive Director must lead/facilitate performance improvement teams in collaboration with multiple clinical team leaders including facility-based Patient Safety Officers and senior administrators and team members with or without direct supervisory responsibility of team members.
