Founded in 2010, Spartan Race is the global leader in the sport of obstacle racing. Spartan races cater to individuals looking to test their physical limits and change their frame of reference for what they can accomplish, from everyday people looking to get off the couch and lead a fitter lifestyle, to elite endurance athletes who seek the ultimate physical test.
Reporting to the Advanced Planning Director, this position is responsible for managing the race planning of specific events. This role is located in Downtown Boston with travel to race sites expected monthly. Local candidates will receive preferred hiring treatment, relocation will not be provided.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage race related event planning for specific Domestic events from the time the venue contract is executed through when the Race Execution team is onsite for the event.
- Plan events following a specific timeline and checklist and meet specific key deliverable and reporting dates.
- Work with various department leads and liaisons in the areas of Product Design, Festival Planning, Logistics, Build Operations and Procurement based on firm deadlines and planning checklists.
- Ensure all parties involved with the advanced planning of an event are meeting firm deadlines.
- Regularly update a comprehensive web-based tracking system that provides real-time reporting on the status of all future events 2-12 months out providing instant visibility.
- Drives continuity between the Planning Team and Race Execution Teams by ensuring the efficient transfer of event plans and other critical information.
- Supports all race execution efforts by providing race specific planning information as needed.
- Leverage technology to effectively communicate.
- Daily reporting to the Advanced Planning Director with status updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree preferred.
- Have 1-3 years of experience working as a Project Manager for large outdoor extreme sporting events.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Solid understanding of finances and accounting basics.
- Proven Leadership and Management abilities.
- Proven success in a rapidly changing, high operational tempo work environment.
- Have a proven attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- Possess a strong analytical mindset and approach to managing projects and problem solving.
- Have the ability to forge interdepartmental relationships and build a strong team atmosphere.
- Thrive in an environment where process and doctrine are the backbone for success.
- Be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office Suite and cloud based computing software packages (Google Drive, BOX, etc).
