The non-profit KIPP Foundation trains and develops outstanding educators to lead KIPP schools, provides tools, resources, and training for excellent teaching and learning, promotes innovation, and facilitates the exchange of insights and ideas within the KIPP network and with partners including: other charters, districts, colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations across the country.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The KIPP Foundation is seeking a visionary, systems thinker with a demonstrated commitment to racial justice and operational excellence, who will determine the organizational structure, systems and topline processes that will drive academic outcomes in its school regions. The KIPP Foundation is seeking a visionary, systems thinker to help define operational effectiveness within its school regions. As the National Director, Regional Systems you will be responsible for driving the organizational health of KIPP regions by supporting regional leadership, governing and operational teams with organizational analysis, strategic planning and performance improvement efforts.
This position reports to the Chief Network Services Officer.
You will lead:
Strategy Development
- In concert with other senior leaders, define a research-informed, evidence-based, and equity-centered framework and standards for KIPP regional health; you will lead the focus on regional operating systems and infrastructure, inclusive of talent systems, operations, strategic planning, and other region-wide systems
- Outline a strategy to drive KIPP regions to regional operating health, with a focus on building out talent systems and partnering with Network Growth Team on fin/ops and other operating systems
- Oversee the development and revision of KIPP elementary and middle school models; ensure vertical coherence and alignment with our KIPP HS model
- In partnership with other senior leaders, create vision for processes to monitor regional and school health and systematize KIPP Foundation interventions
Management and Execution
- In connection with other senior leaders, deliver a menu of appropriate interventions and supports to increase region-wide health
- With Network Growth and Academics Team, deploy regular diagnoses of regional health to monitor KIPP-wide health

In collaboration with regions, determine 1-3 year regional improvement strategies and assemble project teams to deliver KF’s scoped supports. In FY21, this will include:
- Expansion of our in-region talent and leadership development systems
- Refinement of our formal programming offerings and supports
- Codification of standardized school and regional models
- Development of common standards for excellence in teacher development and retention
- Progress monitor delivery of regional health supports for both executional excellence and effectiveness of interventions
- Use impact data, feedback from KIPP regions, and an anti-racism approach to adjust strategies and supports
Team Leadership
- Actively lead and manage the Regional Operating Team to ensure cohesive execution of the team vision and intra-team collaboration
- Manage the workload, resourcing and supports to team members to enable them to propel regional impact
- Drive development across the team to ensure that each member of the team is flourishing and unleashing their full potential for the benefit of KIPPsters
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strategic and systems-level visionary who can determine KIPP Foundation’s regional-systems-building support strategy to achieve our 2025 ambitions
- Ideally, experience in regional operations, talent systems and leadership development, and academics
- Strong people leadership and management; experience building a large, cohesive team that is aligned on a common vision
- Deep commitment to racial justice with past experience centering equity in driving work
- Strong stakeholder management; track record of successfully partnering with practitioners to build systems that drive outcomes
- Extremely adept and problem solving and critical thinking; able to formulate hypotheses, pilot new strategies, gather and synthesize data, evaluate impact, develop and assess alternatives and iterate on program design
