Responsibilities of the Athletic Director
- The Athletic Director is responsible for scheduling all athletic contests at home or away. In addition to scheduling, the Athletic Director will attend all home MS and HS volleyball and basketball games.
- No games are to be scheduled, cancelled, or changed without the athletic director or superintendent’s approval.
- It is the director’s responsibility to see that schedules and schedule changes get to the various news media as soon as possible.
- He/She shall attend all league, district and OSAA meetings.
- He/She shall confirm all dates and times of athletic contests at least two days in advance.
- He/She shall see that all equipment is properly stored and inventoried at the close of each sport season. Head coaches store and inventory the equipment for their sport season.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for all communications with the commissioners of referees in the various sports.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for the administration of the athletic program within the framework of the school board’s policy.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for organizing and running tournaments in any sports.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for helping the coaches with physical arrangements for any events.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for ordering transportation for all athletic contests.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for appointing time keepers and announcers where needed.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for seeing that all players (including home-schoolers) have proper physical forms and extra-curricular permission forms returned and have been properly processed and are on file in the Athletic Office.
- The Athletic Director is responsible for seeing that all necessary OSAA forms are filed on time and for making any necessary reports, violations, or communications with OSAA
- The Athletic Director shall observe head coaches at least one practice session per season.
- The Athletic Director shall make arrangements for all awards programs and order any necessary awards or trophies.
- The Athletic Director shall see that all eligibility rules are enforced and shall communicate violations, suspensions, or expulsions to players, parents and coaches.
- All supplies and uniforms will be ordered through the Athletic Director.
- The Athletic Director will see that all coaches understand their responsibilities.
- The Athletic Director shall be responsible for cash boxes and ticket takers at all home events where admission is being charged.
- The Athletic Director will do all that he can to assist the coaches in publicizing their events and achievements.
- All travel, meals, and lodging for overnight and/or post season play will be arranged by the Athletic Director and approved by the Superintendent, or designee.
- The Athletic Director shall check travel rosters for attendance and release time for all trips after the coaches have submitted them to the Athletic Director.
- The Athletic Director/Superintendent will conduct annual written evaluations of coaching staff and make recommendations for rehire to the Superintendent.
- The Athletic Director shall administer Impact Tests (concussion) of 6th – 12th grade student athletes and will complete the necessary duties to comply with OSAA and ODE concussion requirements.
- The Athletic Director shall organize and make the necessary plans to host the annual Christmas Tournament. Money raised through the gate and Grizzly Den will assist the Letter H Club in paying for the Homecoming activities.
- The Athletic Director shall coordinate with the Letter H Club to organize and chaperone the Homecoming Dance. Money raised at the Christmas Tournament will cover all related expenses.
