WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll be part of the global Communications team, working with our firm’s Publishing team, vendors, and colleagues globally to elevate the quality, efficiency, and impact of McKinsey’s published content. You’ll create best-in-class designs as well as lead others in that pursuit.

You will be based in or close one of these locations: San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, or Seattle. The role reports to McKinsey’s Design Director, with a close working relationship to the firm’s Publishing Director, and other key relationships within the firm’s Publishing function. This role is part of the Design team. This group ensures that the visual content and user experiences published by McKinsey form a cohesive and high-impact brand experience and deliver consistently high value to our audience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be a key part of the team that invents, creates, crafts, and disseminates McKinsey’s highly-regarded business and industry publishing content across all communication channels.

In this role you will be leading a team handling the development of all aspects of the Publishing group’s visual content and user experience. Your responsibilities range from developing visual prototypes for new ways of presenting content to ensuring our quality bar is pushed ever higher for well-established publications such as the McKinsey Quarterly.

Maintaining McKinsey’s rich history of publishing across all management and business topics, you will collaborate with McKinsey’s Editorial team and with vendors to create high-impact visual communications that are compelling and on-brand. You will continually raise our game by creating and directing the creation of visuals and user experiences that expand and deepen engagement with our audience.

You will have deep experience and hands-on skills developing content for all channels and media types. You will also ensure our Publishing communications maintain the integrity of our visual identity, keeping it distinctive, and evolving to solve for the needs of our changing firm.

You will lead a dedicated team of Designers, bringing to bear your knowledge of developing highly engaging content for cross-channel communications and inspiring Designers and vendors to do the same. You will scale design excellence across our firm by directing and influencing designers developing content spanning web (McKinsey.com), app (McKinsey Insights), email and social channels, print, and syndicate publishers. To do this you will use your expert-level knowledge of content marketing and visual storytelling including data visualization to help evolve our process, guidelines, and templates.
