Position Overview

The Transportation Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Director, Parking to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Parking Office Operations: * Establishes written goals & objectives for unit and provides effective management review & oversight. Enforcement Operations: * Establishes written goals & objectives for unit and provides effective management review and oversight. Facility Maintenance & Planning: * Establishes written goals & objectives for unit and provides effective management & oversight. Transportation Services: * Establishes written goals & objectives for unit & provides effective management & oversight. Contract Management/Transit: * Actively monitors DCTA contract compliance and operational parameters to ensure quality services are provided. Performance Reviews: * Ensures completion of employee performance reviews are consistent with policy and deadlines. Coaching: * Provides appropriate feedback and coaching to direct reports. Compliance: * Ensures subordinates comply with policies and appropriate statutes. Compliance: * Ensures subordinates comply with safety guidelines and procedures. Development/Training: * Ensures subordinates receive appropriate training and development to enhance/improve performance. Judgment: * Reflects reasoned judgment and “common sense” when identifying/resolving issues with focus on optimal outcomes. Discretion: * Uses appropriate discretion in resolving problems, performance issues, and complaints.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and seven years of closely related professional experience.

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Has an understanding of peak work periods and demonstrate responsibility by regular attendance. Ensures direct reports do the same. * Manages time well and completes assigned projects within established guidelines. * Works as a member of a team placing team goals ahead of individual goals. * Serves on assigned committees and provides contributions as appropriate to position. * Willingness to communicate feedback to supervisor in open, honest, and constructive fashion. * Uses interpersonal skills constructively to resolve conflicts.

Oversees all departmental general administration, operations, contract management, planning, and policy development. Responsible for the hiring, training, and professional development of staff with an emphasis on innovative solutions, problem solving, and customer service. Oversees departmental personnel by leading the development of departmental strategic plan and creates a shared vision, mission, strategic goals, objectives, and benchmarks.

Oversees the departmental budgets and budget projections, directs the financial operations, and is responsible for ensuring fiscal health.

o

Focuses on building strong partnerships with the UNT community, including student organizations and campus departments. Manages departmental relationships with vendors and contractors/subcontractors to provide exceptional service to the university. Serves as the University’s transportation representative by cultivating relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, university committees, student organizations, and external organizations such as representatives from the city of Denton, Denton County Transportation Authority, North Texas Council of Governments.

Oversees all departmental communication and marketing efforts to internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with the division communications team.

o

Participates in campus master planning discussions, provides direction for all mobility implementation activities, and manages all departmental related capital or construction projects in collaboration with other key campus or UNT System partners.

o

Assesses current services provided to the campus community and/or develops new services and identifies revenue sources with the departmental leadership.
