The Home Depot Online Data Science team is responsible for creating innovative data science solutions helping our customers shop easily on homedepot.com or our app. Application areas include but not limited to onsite search, product/content/service recommendations, visual AI solutions for Décor shopping, catalogue technologies and call center solutions. We are committed to investing in the best in class technology to solve various of challenging problems through Natural Language Processing, Deep learning, Learning to Rank, and many more. The Online Data Science team has grown tremendously in the past few years and will continue to expand to solve more problems in a smarter and more scalable way.
What We’re Looking For:
You will lead a group of data scientists and analysts, and partner with other senior leaders to build innovative and scalable applications in retail business. Responsible for guiding the team and developing best practice to run a productive cross-functional operations in an agile software development environment.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
- 40% – Lead and develop effective cross-function-operations of data scientists and analysts and closely partner with product and engineering teams to build intelligent and scalable solutions
- 25% – Hire, train, mentor team members to develop key skills to be productive in a cross-functional environment
- 15% – Partner with leadership team to co-develop vision, strategy, roadmap of analytical capabilities into scalable solutions
- 10% – Develop and implement best practices, establish and maintain balanced portfolio of projects as well as resources in alignment with strategic organization goals
- 10% – Work closely with The Home Depot business stakeholders and drive greater business value through partnership

- Position reports to Sr. Director
- Number of Direct Reports: 6-8

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ecommerce experience
- Software/Technology company experience, applying machine learning in a large scale, familiar with agile and cloud technology
- Ph.D. in a quantitative field
