At this important juncture in its history, USF is seeking a talented professional to lead its Human Resources function. This person will combine proven talent management, a deep understanding of the all-important compliance aspects of HR, inter-personal skills that foster successful outreach with the university community, and visionary leadership to help the University continue on its trajectory.

The Division of Human Resources (DHR) provides system-wide strategic development of policies, procedures, and programs for the core HR functions. DHR supports the goals, vision, and mission of USF, with a focus on delivering valuable, innovative, and compliant services that attract, develop, reward, and retain highly qualified individuals to create a diverse and talented workforce. Services and programs provided by DHR include: Benefits; Classification & Compensation; Employee Relations; Labor Relations; Talent Acquisition; Strategic Planning; Staff Recognition; Compliance; HR Information Systems; and Learning and Talent Development. DHR is embarking on a multi-year transformation initiative to provide a human resources function that operates efficiently and effectively, leverages up-to-date tools, and embraces technology to create greater value-added services and programs for the USF community.

Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Business and Financial Strategy, the Associate Vice President serves as the Chief HR Officer for USF. This position will also contribute to the growth and development of the University’s human capital by partnering with and supporting the leadership team and University community in the creation and implementation of business strategies, talent acquisition and development, and a positive and rewarding work environment and culture.

Responsibilities:

Directly and indirectly supervise 50 employees responsible for providing quality services in the functions indicated above.

Provide strategic, hands-on operational leadership and oversight in human resources services, including engaging staff in collaborating with all departments and constituents of the University.

Through effective outreach and networking activities, solicit input and feedback regarding on-going development and improvement of the HR systems and processes to ensure successful implementation.

Develop, implement, communicate, and administer the human resources strategic plan for the University System.

Represents the Sr. Vice President of Business and Financial Strategy on all HR matters.

Serves on a variety of workgroups, taskforces, and committees related to HR issues at the campus and system level.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 10 years of progressive, professional experience related to this position, including at least 7 years of Human Resources managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration or related field from a regionally accredited institution or Doctorate degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution. Beyond 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in multiple human resources functional areas, preferably in a higher education setting. PHR/SPHR certifications.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and excellent benefit package.
