The Assistant Director of Testing Services manages the daily operations, services, and staff, and provides and supports the testing needs of our instructional programs. Testing Services administers placement testing, dual enrollment testing, academic departmental exams and assessments, and high-stakes certification and revenue-generating exams. This position also establishes connections and partnerships with departments across campus to achieve a shared, overarching goal of student success. This work is performed in consultation with the Dean of Students. Direct reports to this position include a team of Testing Specialists.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Recruit, hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate testing staff
  • Manage the daily operations and budget of Testing Services
  • Implement safety and security procedures that protect academic integrity
  • Collaborate with IT to assure the proper maintenance, viability, and functioning of technologies needed to administer, report, and monitor testing services
  • Direct testing programs relative to strategic goals in support of institutional priorities
  • Collaborate with Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to share data and apply academic placement policies and procedures to enhance student intake experience, success, persistence, and completion.
  • Oversee and negotiate contracts/partnerships with private businesses, community leaders, and testing companies to support the testing needs of the Treasure Valley and generate supplemental college revenue.
  • Oversee testing schedules, employee schedules, and work study schedules. Evaluate changes to schedules at the beginning of each semester.
  • Lead the promotion of testing activities through classroom visits, emails, and Blackboard LMS
  • Analyze and apply employee and student data in decision making
  • Analyze, assess, and report data on testing relative to institution-wide planning and strategic initiatives
  • Plan budget requests for upcoming fiscal year. Propose and justify expenditures for new growth and activities. Predict staffing budgetary requirements for new course programming.
  • Oversee the expansion and maintenance of the Testing webpage verifying its accuracy and currency in support of college-wide initiatives
  • Oversee efforts to provide accommodations for students with visual, auditory, learning, and psychological disabilities
  • Serve on a variety of standing and advisory committees to represent testing services in support of institutional needs and priorities
  • Keep abreast of current research and best practices in assessment and testing and share acquired knowledge with appropriate constituencies
  • Complete other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Assessment, Education, Educational Administration, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, and directing academic support (testing) programs (testing support or related work)
  • Demonstrated leadership behaviors that result in making good decisions aligned with the College’s priorities. Encourage team members to perform their duties to achieve priorities. Must possess qualities to inspire team by; creating transparency in the decision-making process when possible achieving accountability for decisions; inspiring team members to meet and exceed goals and objectives; identifying the strengths and development areas of each team member and inspire them to do their best work in an effective manner.
  • Administrative experience developing and managing a budget
  • Experience with managing and reporting on multiple funding sources
  • Experience implementing strategic planning, fiscal management, and policy assessment in support of meeting institutional goals
  • Teaching experience at the community college or university level, preferred
  • Experience working with non-traditional students and diverse populations, preferred
  • Ability to promote a shared vision and innovation with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, team building, interpersonal, personnel management, and organizational skills
  • Self-direction and commitment to establishing and maintaining a collaborative and collegial environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and project management skills
  • Ability to navigate and utilize various computer programs and computerized systems
