Job Summary

You will help publicize the University’s 42-sport Division I athletics program through a variety of print, web, social media and multimedia methods to a broad base of constituents.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

You will oversee media relations and be the point of contact for assigned sports. You will handle media and public relations functions; plan and direct publicity efforts; and design, write and edit sports information guides, game programs, special event publications, and press releases. You will educate coaches and student athletes on effective methods of media interaction. you will plan and implement multimedia, digital, new and social media strategies for promoting your assigned sports. You will recruit, hire, train, schedule and manage student workers and game-day event staff.

Please note – this is a term position with a scheduled end date of April 30, 2020.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. At least 3 years of work experience in athletic communications/ sports media. Internships may count towards this experience.

Additional Qualifications

Ideally, your Bachelor’s degree will be in communications, sports management, journalism/audio-visual communications, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Outstanding organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills needed. Must be able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and use discretion.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Creative Suite needed. Knowledge of StatCrew essential. Strong knowledge of emergent social media tools and multimedia technologies desirable.

Ability and willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
