Position Title: Project Manager
Position Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects according to strict deadlines and within budget while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and contractors or consultants of multiple disciplines in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also participate in defining the projects’ objectives and oversee the quality of the projects throughout the life cycle.
Essential Functions:
- Meet the overall objectives of the project(s) and program(s).
- Follow the appropriate management system(s) which ensure that all required program launch activities and quality planning activities take place during the development of the program.
- Creates and executes project work plans and timelines and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Monitors the teams’ abilities to meet all project targets, including program costs, customer requirements and risks.
- Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Evaluates resource needs for projects in support of all new products and cost reduction initiatives, obtaining consensus on due dates with all functional champions.
- Develop proposals for risk mitigation and coordinate appropriate risk management activities.
- Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Reviews deliverables prepared by team, identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change. Escalates issues of work product or team member behaviors as appropriate and in a timely manner.
- Participates in analysis of project profitability, revenue and margins as required.
- Conducts project post mortems and reports on recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP or ACP) is required.
- At least three to five years of successful project management (including agile project methodologies) in a technical organization with proven experience in managing a team to tight, strict timelines.
