Vice President – Public Relations & Government Affairs

As Vice President of Public Relations & Government Affairs, you will be the head of public relations, government affairs and corporate communications for Swire Coca-Cola, USA. You will be responsible for developing and administering public relations programs and policies, directing and deploying communications to employees related to company values/strategy/performance, and you will deliver strategic perspectives on business plans, communications, and issues that may impact the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs, plans, develops, and oversees Swire Coca-Cola’s public relations efforts to create and maintain a favorable image, both internally and externally.
  • Develops and administers public relations programs and policies, including the dissemination of information about the organization through various means, including press releases, reports, public events, direct communication, and digital channels.
  • Implements a program of action to earn public, employee, and shareholder understanding and acceptance.
  • Remains informed about local, regional, and national affairs, policies, and legislation. Studies proposed legislation and regulations for possible impact and effect on the organization.
  • Direct and deploy communications to employees related to company values/strategy/performance and employee programs, policies, and tools.
  • Provide strategic direction on the company’s relationships with key stakeholders. Work toward the goal of shaping positive perceptions about Swire Coca-Cola and our products.
  • Advance the company’s sales and operations goals through cohesive messaging, communications tools and digital platforms.
  • Provide strategic counsel on industry campaigns, lobbyists and consultants on the company’s positions regarding legislative, regulatory, and public policy matters.
  • Deliver strategic perspectives on business plans, communications and issues posing a threat to our business.
  • Lead government, stakeholder, media and community relationship building throughout the company’s geography.
  • Direct the company’s philanthropy and community partnerships.
  • Recommend, activate, track and report on suggested memberships, contributions and other community engagement by the company.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, business, or related.
  • 15+ years of experience working in government relations, public affairs, public relations, and/or with an elected official.
  • 10+ years of experience working in fast moving consumer goods, beverage industry, Coca-Cola system, or comparable industry experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with internal and external communications, including media and social media.
  • Significant political campaign experience (candidate, party, issue, ballot initiative, etc.)
  • Ability to identify and take advantage of new opportunities, best practices and potential partnerships, while taking into consideration business objectives and key stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Capability to establish and build solid relationships with relevant external and internal audiences across all management levels.
  • Maintain an acute awareness about the Coca-Cola System’s brands, products and activities.
  • Understands political and legislative processes and the resulting implications upon our company and industry. Provide high-level counsel on these decisions and actions.
  • Operate in a highly polarized and politically charged environment while balancing the different actors and actions within the political spectrum.
  • Crisis management.
  • Must have experience writing for a variety of different audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Executive level presence and communications.

Other Requirements: Ability to travel extensively, up to 75%.
