Location: Alpharetta, GA Required Travel: 20% domestically and internationally

Required Education: BS of Engineering. MBA preferred. Extensive experience (at least 12+ years) in steel related technologies with a strong understanding of finance and business development

Position Overview: The Vice President, Project Management is accountable for collaborating across the Primetals global organization and positively influencing business outcomes by supporting the execution of complex engineering projects associated with the steel industry. This role requires the collaboration with engineering, procurement, and other support functions to full execute project plans, integration planning, and post project execution.

Major Areas of Responsibility include: (but are not limited to)

  • Possess the ability to lead complex individual projects or workstreams that span across multiple business units and countries.
  • Ability to monitor financial performance for multiple large scale projects.
  • Lead the US project management office in support of both domestic and international projects.
  • Build global best practices and standard processes for integration planning, due diligence process, and provide integration execution support.
  • Grow and develop a team of 50 project engineers.
  • Lead global business initiatives by partnering with internal teams and/or external partners to develop and execute on projects ranging from $1M – $100M.
  • Support facilitation of the strategic planning and long-range process as required.
  • Ensure multi-disciplinary teams thoroughly and timely execute upon diligence responsibilities and continually improve upon the process. Oversee training processes for due diligence and integration planning and execution as needed.
  • Leads and partners with regional leaders for post-completion integration analysis for all acquired companies.
  • Develop and compile strategic presentations for the executive leadership team, Committee, Board of Directors, and other management functions.

  • Develop post-implementation business case tracking and reporting to ensure associated benefits and returns are realized.
  • Build, lead, or partner with cross-functional teams to quickly and provide coaching and guidance on both global organic and inorganic business initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction and personal leadership, management and oversight with the Global PMO team.
  • Manage and develop staff. Build bench strength and promote talent across the organization. Exceptional coaching and mentoring, as well as a high level of passion for and interest in organization talent development and engagement.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Defines and delivers the strategy for this business function and responsible for overall financial performance of large project implementation.
  • 15 years related experience in project management, plus a minimum of 5 years management experience required. Extensive experience in manufacturing & engineering fields with the implementation of very complex projects, specific experience with steel related products required.
  • Demonstrated ability of influence and execute organizational and mindset changes.
  • Ability to engage and understand key financial data. Manages the P&L performance of the project business.
  • Requires the ability to deal with ambiguity and working with global cross functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex and competing priorities with strong organizational and process improvement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically and creatively, business savvy, exercises judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand the vision of the organization, and turn information into effective strategies to drive business performance.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. MBA preferred. Extensive experience (at least 12+ years) in steel related technologies with a strong understanding of finance and business development.
  • Must have prior Metals industry experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications are a plus, e.g., PMP and Lean/Six Signma.
  • Significant experience with electrical and mechanical engineering processes.
  • Exemplary verbal, written communication and presentation skills at the executive level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: work well as part of a cross-functional team and able to interact at all levels.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% + annually as needed, often on short notice.
