Vice President of Field Operations

The Vice President of Field Operations has the responsibility and authority to plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, direct and control all aspects of the production/field at AMS Paving, Inc. from initial concept development through installation support. He or she is accountable for the overall performance of the Production/Field department.
This position directly supervises AMS Paving’s, Superintendents to ensure that all production/field items are completed within established budgets and schedules. Meeting tight production schedules and controlling costs while maintaining a cooperative attitude and good morale among production employees is the major focus of this position.
This position formulates and communicates plans and goals, develops an organized production strategy and provides direction, motivation and leadership to get projects completed on time and within budget. He or she will also communicate and enforces AMS Paving’s quality standards, safety regulations, and company policies and procedures generally.
Primary Skills and Required Experience:

• Minimum of ten years of experience as a manager or supervisor in a construction environment, preferably paving.
• Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superior judgement and decision-making ability.
• Effective organizational skills and leadership ability.
• Ability to motivate, coach, teach and direct the activities of others in a positive manner.
• Ability and willingness to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities.
• Thorough and practical working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
• Ability to use a Microsoft Windows PC effectively, including Microsoft Office 365 applications and other business software.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and monitors the work of Production Department.
• Is responsible for optimizing the efficiency of AMS Paving’s production operations with the goal of controlling costs and increasing AMS Paving’s profitability, while providing high-quality services and products.

Responsibilities by Function
Risk Management

• Is responsible for employee safety on the production floor and employee compliance with AMS Paving’s Illness and Injury Prevention Program and Safety Manual.
• Is responsible for compliance with all local, state and Federal laws and regulations, including (but not limited to); OSHA, Cal OSHA, SCAQMD, and EPA.

Production Planning and Effectiveness

• Conducts regular daily/weekly status meetings with the Superintendents.
• Is responsible for the improvement planning of AMS Paving’s production facilities and equipment.

Personnel Leadership

• Analyzes and solves both technical and employee-centered problems in an effective and positive manner.
• Interviews, hires, disciplines and, when necessary, terminates field staff.
• Assumes responsibility for the implementation, communication and enforcement of all company policies and procedures among the production staff.
• Maintains good morale and cooperative attitudes among field staff
• Actively fosters and promotes the professional development of himself and field staff.
