The investment process is undergoing an epic change. Fundamental equity investing is being increasingly informed by data science leveraging internal and external data of all types. Truist is meeting this evolution through the creation of a Data Science and Engineering function within its equity research department with the goal of harnessing and communicating the investment insights that data science can provide. We are looking to add a key member to this new team, reporting to the Head of Data Strategy with daily tasks include: Design, evaluate and implement methodologies to gather and analyze alternative/financial data Clean data and stage data for alpha generation\ Support equity research sector analysts by performing statistical research and back testing predictive power of financial and alternative data assets. Select, implement, and maintain key systems including databases, business intelligence dashboards and model deployment platforms Perform follow-up work generated from feedback on published reports. Basic Requirements: – BA/BS degree – 8 years of related work experience – In-depth knowledge of investment banking, market, industry sector and/or financial products – Advanced skills in financial analytical, sales, presentation, client relationship management, organizing, leadership and interpersonal relationship management – Superior skills in written and oral communications Preferred Requirements: – MBA degree, with a Finance focus – Experience in mentoring and coaching – Degree in Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. – Advanced PC skills and programming skills. – Experience in web-scraping, REST API and data wrangling. – Strong interest in capital markets, investment banking, trading and finance – Strong communications skills both verbal and written. – Master’s Degree in quantitative discipline – 2+ years work experience as a data scientist
