POSITION SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION:
PPG is seeking a Vice President, Engineering &
Operational Excellence to transform the product design, quality, and
continuous improvement capabilities of PPG. This leadership role will focus on delivering
high quality products and business processes to differentiate PPG from larger
competitors who more often compete on speed, breadth, and cost. The VP
Engineering & Operational Excellence will provide technical vision and
direction to ensure PPG offers the highest quality plumbing parts in the
industry designed with the customer in mind. This executive will also lead the
charge behind Total Quality Management (TQM), driving our culture of customer
focus and continuous improvement.
Sitting on the CEO’s senior
leadership team and attending quarterly Board meetings, this role plays a
critical role in PPG’s business strategy. When implemented PPG strategy will
disrupt the plumbing supply industry with services that improve our operating
effectiveness and integrate with our customers to reduce cost, improve business
effectiveness and drive above market profitable growth.
Position Title: Vice President, Engineering & Operational
Excellence
Location: Glen Mills, PA (20 mins from Philadelphia, PA)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
CRITICAL OUTCOMES:
- Drive new product
development roadmap to realize annual vitality target.
- Drive continuous
improvement in products and processes to deliver cost savings and realize
annual cost savings target.
- Orchestrate the design and
implementation of business processes and lean techniques to ensure effective,
efficient business operations while still providing a high-quality customer
experience.
KEY ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and shape
engineering best practices
- Work closely with Marketing
and Supply Chain to continuously deliver well-crafted products that drive
business value
- Ensure that the team is in
alignment with business strategy via roadmaps and constant feedback
- Collaborate on key design decisions
and considerations to ensure high quality, scalability, maintainability, and
resiliency
- Own SOP portfolio and
quality of business process adoption and execution
- Own safety and maintenance
of PPG worksites
- Coach and provide guidance
to engineering and quality leaders and team members to ensure high levels of
productivity and effectiveness
- Ensure safe, optimal, and
cost-effective manufacturing processes that meet or exceed quality standards
and customer expectations
- Monitor and communicate
industry trends and best practices to the CEO’s Leadership Team and Board of
Directors
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 10+ years of
experience in Engineering with increasing leadership of functions and talent
- Track record of hitting
project plans and ROI targets for project implementations
- Deep knowledge of lean
techniques and the ability to bring to life in the workplace
- Demonstrated understanding
of business analytics and BI tools to convert real-time data into dashboards
and business decisions
- Experience partnering with
Marketing, Operations, Talent (HR), and Finance to drive cross-functional
initiatives
- BS Engineering or Equivalent
