Responsible for planning, organizing, managing and executing marketing projects from beginning to end. The project scope can vary from single pieces of collateral to multifaceted, multichannel marketing campaigns which may include events. Reporting to and working under the direction of the Director of Marketing Projects, the SMC Project Manager will also work closely with the Marketing Strategists. The SMC Project Manager is responsible for collecting and verifying project information, making recommendations based on the clientâs marketing objectives, and is the primary point person for the client and project team. Responsible for managing scope and changes, ensuring that the project team remains on track and within budget, etc. Coordinates marketing and communication activities assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Work in tandem with SMC Strategist on campus client marketing campaigns
- Collaborate with design and strategist team members daily to ensure everyone is equipped with proper assets, information and guidelines
- Coordinate various integrated communication and marketing activities
- Monitor production, delivery and maintenance of marketing collateral
- Comprehensive support of key marketing media: print, digital, video.
- Understand and support the project management process and policies including maintaining accurate documentation, obtaining regular status, administering tasks and tracking progress (i.e. timelines, deliverables, internal/external communication)
- Work with outside vendors on pricing and estimates for print jobs and collateral
- Troubleshoot problems and risks that arise in the marketing process to ensure compliance and project professionalism
- Assistance with resource management and managing sub-contractor relationships (i.e. ad buys, insertion orders, etc.).
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Review and edit marketing materials
- Provide feedback to Strategists on language and design layout of marketing material
- Collaborate SMC team edit marketing materials when appropriate
- Communicate updates of marketing materials to Strategists prior to publishing
- Ensure proper communication among design team and on-campus clients
- Manage graphic design changes to project budget, schedule and product definitions

Required Qualifications
Bachelors in marketing, English, communications, business, Advertising, public relations or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.
Minimum 3-5 yearsâ experience in project management. Preferably in a marketing environment.
Proven ability to plan, prioritize multiple projects, and complete them in a timely manner.
Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
Strong writing and editing skills, including the proven ability to prepare and proofread clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence and other documents.
Extraordinary skills in organizing and planning, problem analysis and problem solving
Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university.
Strong technical skills to learn enterprise system, software and tools.
Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to use standard office equipment.
Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Knowledge of marketing principles and concepts.
Ability to follow policies and procedures for Chapman University and the department; able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
