Basic Qualifications

Amazon.com is seeking a Program Manager, APAC & Americas (excluding the US 401(k)), to lead and oversee our retirement programs in APAC & Americas. Qualified candidates will need to have prior pension/retirement experience. This candidate will be responsible for leading the program management strategy to support administration of investments in multiple geographies, establish a corporate governance structure framework; define global and local roles/responsibilities with internal stakeholders and external partners; document operational processes and control requirements; implement business-level control mechanisms; assess program and business level risk and compliance, and establish global (and program) level reporting metrics. The successful candidate must have strong critical thinking skills, superior attention to detail with sound judgement, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, and have a strong passion for customer service.

The position is based at our headquarters in Seattle. Global travel will be required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Governance – Implement a global framework for a corporate governance structure and committee level advisement, ensure local plans are administered in compliance with plan documents and applicable regulations, build a comprehensive and sustainable compliance review for existing and new retirement plans, establish cadence for monitoring program costs, advise on current trends and global best operational practices.
  • Compliance – Identify and manage non-US investment related projects, own and drive audits and compliance reviews including defining scope and purpose, developing methodology, reports and processes, performing or managing audits, and communicating findings, results, and remediation plans. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve issues, and recommend how to avoid or handle similar situations in the future. Track and monitor new regulations and ensure compliance with international retirement plans. Create and manage project plans to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Research and Reporting – Develop and provide compliance metric reports on a regular basis and keep senior management informed of key compliance efforts. Use sound judgment to respond, track and resolve escalations and appeals in a timely manner. Research issues, learn and become adept in Amazon systems and tools to aid in resolving issues.
  • Program Management – Support growth and strategic initiatives of key stakeholders globally and provide information and guidance on new or changing laws/regulation/business practices. Work with internal stakeholders and external consultants to assess and articulate regulatory/business risk implications.

Specifically:

  • Manage pension/retirement reporting and compliance-related activities. Develop solutions that reduce risk and compliance while supporting strategic initiatives and objectives, providing an optimal employee experience, and scaling to support future business growth. Participate in and/or lead local RFI/RFPs with working groups consisting of Amazon internal business stakeholders.
  • Perform audits and compliance reviews including developing reporting and processes to communicate methodology, results, and remediation plans.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and develop plans on how to prevent and mitigate similar situations in the future.
  • Research and maintain an inventory of country-specific reporting obligations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising senior leadership, in partnership with cross functional business leaders, to gain approvals on proposals and recommendations
  • Proven track record of working effectively with people across a large, complex organization to create and launch innovative, successful solutions
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience automating and simplifying processes to reduce redundancy and eliminate compliance risk.
  • Understanding of basic investment vocabulary and understanding of financial markets.
